More a projected injury crisis for city, but yeah shows their depth isn’t great excellent results for Milan, Celtic, Monaco , Dortmund today.
I don't really understand the format, and I wonder if the way its organized makes it less essential for teams to not drop results because honestly? Man City, Girona, Madrid, Leipzig? Just totally shocked, all of these teams lost and lost really ugly. Some of the results in terms of W/L/D didn't shock me, but the fact that the four of them collectively lost 14-4. To freaking Eredivisie, SPL, Serie A, and the Portuguese League? I just can't make heads or tails of any of it, just shocking to me.
Its a dumb format. UCL has always been a bit about the luck of the draw but this format just magnifies that. Who did you draw and even more so are the tough matches at home or away.
Here is my best translation for the Real Madrid -Milan player ratings.... Musah 7.5: Fonseca's surprise inclusion. Yunus is the protagonist of a fabulous performance in the two phases, confirming his great form. Pulisic 7: disegna un arcobaleno che Thiaw trasforma nel gol del vantaggio. Sempre dentro la partita con intensità e qualità. Quando parte palla al piede per il Real Madrid sono dolori. (dal 25’ st. Loftus-Cheek 5,5: ha sui piedi la palla dell’1-4 ma centra Lunin) Pulisic 7: draws out a rainbow which Thiaw converts into the opening goal. Always into the game with intensity and quality. When the ball goes off for Real Madrid it's painful. (from the 25th minute Loftus-Cheek 5.5: he has the 1-4 ball on his feet but hits Lunin) Real Madrid-Milan 1-3, le pagelle - Champions League PULISIC voto 7,5 MUSAH voto 7
The new format is stupid. Shocking and profoundly stupid. This needs to be a freak accident and never thought of again in serious terms. Whoever thought this was a good idea needs to be fired. Twice. That said, phenomenal results for yank club interests
*Trusty: another epic performance, especially in conjunction w/ playing thru a rolled ankle *CCV: we got a direct comparison v. Trusty & he was worse, struggled in air, on clearances *Pulisic: influential in a huge Milan victory, adding to UCL legacy *Tillman: breakout performance at attacker now, but needs to foster trust w/ us *Campbell: doing nothing in these circumstantial chances to warrant integration for them or us *Weah & Wes: not much notable, odd neither started *Pepi: efficient even when he doesn't score, ought to get more time
I thought people are too harsh on Tillman who had a fantastic game in UCL match. I remembered when Weah used to like that great in one game, and meh in next game. Maybe just need time to mature Tillman and Johnny both very talented and not so good in USMNT’s duty, just need to give them more time. So is Musah.
Cade Cowell back on the scoresheet in Liga MX. Important 2-0 win on the road for Chivas over Santos Laguna. One more match to go in the Apertura with Chivas fighting for an automatic quarterfinal spot in the playoff phase. 1853979518748201271 is not a valid tweet id
Mathis Albert is kinda on fire. Youngest American goalscorer ever in the UEFA youth league according to twitter. He surpasses Weah and Reyna, who both scored in that competition as 16 year olds. 1853843070896205941 is not a valid tweet id
I was not expecting Cade Cowell to end up with more goals this Apertura than Vazquez and Zendejas combined.
Zendejas. Maybe. He had a broken leg at the start of the season. [And Club America has had a disastrous campaign by their recent standards.] Vazquez has had a disappointing Apertura for those of us hoping he'd EXPLODE in that league.
For the 15/16 season, a 17 y/o Pulisic had 7 goals and 6 assists in 1211 minutes at U19 level, his only year at that level. Albert, who turned 15 in May, is on 4 goals in 231 minutes at U19 level. Zendejas had been hurt. Cowell has 4g/1a in 8 starts on the left during this Clausura* season. * = includes Leagues Cup
As people were saying in the youth forum with Albert, it's not necessarily the production. Lots of guys have great stats at the youth level and never make it as high level pros. But rather it's how aggressively Dortmund is promoting him up the ranks. It seems like they really think they have a player here.
Vazquez had a run of 6 starts in Apertura where he scored 3 and had 1 assist. He hasn't contributed from the bench. Overall 3 goals and 1 assist in 553 minutes. Starting eleven: 6, Substituted in: 9, On the bench: 1, Suspended: 0, Injured: 0, Absence: 0
Yes, we've seen two of our top youth players go straight from U19 to the full team and he seems on that fast track. A good problem? is doesn't he play the same position as Cole Campbell?
That breakaway is why it is so important to keep Pulisic at 100% form. He was dragging there and would have pulled out of reach if he had been 100%.
Would imagine that for the 25/26 season, we'll see him continue to get U19 minutes with a few Bundesliga appearance.
The factory doesn’t crank out too many Cade Cowells and I’m glad to see him getting the shots on target. Even when he was supposedly playing bad he was able to blow past defenders to get off shots, he just kicked them into the stands too much.
Is Cowell still playing as an out and out winger or more centrally? I always thought his strength was down the middle but it's just easier to be a flashy winger.
Its interesting isn't. He started started ice cold, while Vazquez was on a heater, and now its completely switched. Exciting news, as if he can put it together as a reasonably technical player, he can be a swiss army knife attacking winger that other teams will really, really struggle to contain.
I'm beginning to understand why some viewed Albert as every bit the prospect Cavan was/is or close to it anyway. Hugely exciting right now to have him and Cavan basically I think only 4 months apart in age, and likely to be added to the senior team program by '26 or '28 if they continue on their current trajectories.
