Winning is not getting relegated. I switched from Liverpool to Notts County when Liverpool were English champions and Nottingham Forest were European champions (allegedly). Ask me anything.
Juventus broke two common senses: 1. How dare you win a game when you have a man down? 2. How can you win a tough game when you don’t have Depay? LOL.
Auston Trusty is a very left-footed player. He was mostly competent, rather than 'out of his depth', in the Prem when played at lcb in a back 3 or 4. Playing rcb against a team, like Dortmund, was never going to go well for him. And Celtic were thoroughly outmatched in any event.
I don't know of anyone calling the current US pool 'Top-10', but its currently 19th on TM and 5th among non-UEFA teams. Given the US pool's youth skew, it's reasonably top-15.
Yurp is finally incorporating the MLS 10 man advantage. (There was a trend in big MLS games for a while for teams to come back after getting a player dismissed).
Why did they play him there? There are so few left footed players they almost never have to play out of position as compared to right footers playing on the left. Couldn't CCV have played there instead?
Someone obviously didn't watch Trusty play much last season. The issues he had against Dortmund were of the kind he regularly had in the PL playing on his preferred side of the pitch.
Something typically chimes in with its usual numbnuttery because someone had mentioned an EPL player. Again, the player was competent when played on at lcb. Agree to disagree. Take care.
Numbnuttery??? Pot meet kettle. And no, the guy who was maybe the 3rd best CB on the team that conceded the most goals in PL history (smashing the previous record for a 38 game season) was not competent at LCB. He was wildly out of his depth.
I'd think that a young team would have a *higher* total transfer price estimate than their current class level, so I'd estimate a mid twenties for the *current* playing quality of the USMNT from that data.
Gotta love this place. When an American player struggles there's always someone else to blame. Of course Sheffield United were poor all over the pitch last season, but their backline was the weakest link. And Trusty wasn't even the "best" player in that incredibly weak link. The overwhelming majority of that squad was out of its depth in the PL.
I just think some have an inveterate need to be a 'truther' when their precious England is mentioned. But rather than provide insight, a monotonous 'cuz I knows better' blather is produced. Over and over again.
Eh, there certainly was a fair bit of monotonous blather (not to mention childish personal attacks) in this back and forth but it wasn't coming from me. Though I'd expect nothing less from IE.
The fetishism of literally watching American players doing bad so they can pick them apart is frankly……. Stunningly high. Reddit is much worse about it than here somehow. It’s a literal fraternity. Watching soccer……. To intentionally root against Americans. It’s straight up wild to think about. It’s like the people who cheer when soldiers get blown up by suicide bombers. Again……. Unfortunately a demographic much higher than you’d prefer it to be
Am I missing where US Soccer fans are rooting against American players in a way that is comparable to cheering for soldiers getting blown up by suicide bombers... gotta say I'm just not seeing much of either of those things... I mostly see stuff like this WESTON MCKENNIE. look at my midfielder effortlessly leading to that game winning goal pic.twitter.com/SVg4flQ1Si— ًًً (@_captainpulisic) October 3, 2024
