BL2 results didn’t fall kindly to cologne, so they still gotta take care of business against the FCKers next week. Not the easiest matchup, but a tie ices promotion
As Bob Uecker would say... Leyton Orient have a one-goal lead against Stockport, despite this being Charlie Kelman's position before he scored 😬 pic.twitter.com/mTdCzNBica— Sky Sports Football (@SkyFootball) May 10, 2025
Charlie kelman is the name YA nerds are going to be paying close attention to next year, that’s for sure. 28 goals is just epic even if league one. Obviously has some clutch to his game too. No doubt qpr give him a honest chance next season ugh…….. Juve just gave up a late equalizer to Nazio. Hate to see it. That 4th champions league spot is getting snug.
Super sweet, lofted, left-footed cross from McKennie. Stupid 60' red from Kalulu to see Juventus eventually forced to give up the stoppage time equalizer. Juve and Lazio are tied on points with Juve ahead by 7 goals on the goal differential tiebreaker.
Ligue 1 news, Monaco have secured champions leage ball next season, Flo was curiously absent. Mark McKenzie and Toulouse basically a ho-hum year look like comfortably mid table Reims and Pefok arent safe just yet, and have a tough one against Lille last game of the season. Nantes have a home game against Monpellier so thats basically an assured W. Le Havre are away to Stratsbourg, thatll be tough for them. St Etienne will fight like rabit dogs against Toulouse at home to try and assure survival, but they can only hope for Nantes and Le Havre to slip up......they cant catch Reims. Tanner and Lyon will need a result and a bit of help last game of season to get into a european competition of any sort. I believe they might be able to get a champions league spot still with LOTS of help (stratsbourg, lille, Nice all losing) Mini sidebar with Venezia, Empoli picked up a win against Parma today, knocking Lecce into the relegation spots (1 point back). Venezia and Busio now 2 points back. Need to sneak in an unthinkable win soon..........hope it can happen against Fiorentina. BL2........Hamburg just got promotion, Cologne need at least a tie to assure promotion. Dont want that to be in the hands of red hot Paderborn or Elversburg
Taty beat Wes on a backpost header for the Lazio equalizer. Shot was saved and the rebound was scored. Balogun was held out with an ankle thing I believe.
I was watching an interview with that PSR/FFP expert on Talksport about Leeds situation. Its going to be very hard for them to do much. He went into all of the vagaries of their situation. Too complicated to go into. Premier League clubs certainly don't make it easy on the yo-yo clubs to stay up. [Which makes sense. The three clubs above the relegation zone are Spurs, West Ham, and ManU. Do we think big clubs are voting to make the lives of promoted clubs easier????] The bottom line is Leeds may have 50-70 million to spend WITHOUT additional player sales. At least in terms of the wiggle room they currently have with PSR. ...................and yet all of these articles we read about their summer say Leeds want a new GK, new CB, new #10, #9, and want to make the loan for Solomon permanent. They have to do some of these things with Byrum, Firpo, and others being out of contract. We know how much players cost these days. Solomon alone might cost 20 million. [Supposedly, other clubs like Everton are interested in him.] So in order to bring in "Premier League quality players," they need to sell guys from their current roster. The problem is............how much are you getting for Gelhardt, Meslier, and those guys? Aaronson is one that they think they can get something for. Maybe you can sell him for 15 million or something? His current value on transfermarkt is 18 million. That's the thing with Aaronson. He's flippable to fund other moves if leadership decides he's not in their plans for the Premier League. Gnonto is another one in this position. Jack Harrison is another. [He's under contract with them thru 2028.] Supposedly, a lot of the transfer fee from the Archie Gray sale is actually coming in this window. Supposedly. So that helps. When we see these articles about the 49s telling Farke he has this huge pot of money to spend, it MUST include player sales from the existing squad. Leeds ‘line up 10 new signings’ as Farke’s huge Premier League transfer budget is revealed
It could be the case that the psr/ffp rules just calcify the current economic order. Like imagine what City would look like today if these rules were in place when they were bought.
Richards and Palace were really strong today with a 2-0 win at Spurs. In total control the whole game. They're in good form with the FA Cup final approaching. The complete away performance.#CPFC // #TOTCRY pic.twitter.com/0Plo8k9zUC— Crystal Palace F.C. (@CPFC) May 11, 2025
Lecce tied Hellas Verona 1-1. Venezia now two back on both Lecce and Empoli with a huge game tomorrow against Fiorentina. Time to do the unthinkable if we plan to stay up. And my oh my........everyones thinking it, but nobody better say it. Just look at the Eredivisie right now. I will say no more. It could actually happen. Betis and Johnny have a big match today that they need to keep pace with Villareal on. A win absolutely drags Atletic Bilbao into the fight.
St Pauli practically safe with a draw today so sands could have another go if he heals up well probably no longer Gio related but maybe Cole Campbell related, Dortmund could actually sneak back into the champions league. They host relegated Holstein Kiel and Freiburg, who are above them, play Frankfurt……. Obviously who has the tougher ask there. Dortmund W and Freiburg tie or L gets Dortmund in despite their mid season disaster

Sevilla players were forced to sleep at the club’s training ground following “extreme violence” from supporters after their 3-2 defeat by Celta Vigo. A club statement released on Sunday strongly condemned “organised vandalism” at the José Ramón Cisneros Palacios training complex. Footage on social media appeared to show fans with pyrotechnics gathering outside the training ground on Saturday, with an access gate being damaged. Sevilla sit 16th in La Liga. From a 2021 Athletic article. 777 have invested more than €25 million so far to get to a shareholding which Arciniegas says is “over 13 per cent”... ...The local media reaction to the arrival of “los americanos” has been overwhelmingly negative, perhaps understandably given how most foreign owners have acted in Spanish football over recent decades... As 777 Partners have slowly built their shareholding, offering well above market rate for small blocks of shares, there has been a lot of questioning of their motives, including rumours they planned to sell its stadium and training ground for property development. More recently, it has been claimed they were close to King Street, the US investors responsible for the financial meltdown at Ligue 1 side Bordeaux... ...Some sources in the city wonder if the local groups jostling for power are just trying to use “los americanos” for their own ends, rather than seriously considering selling up. Others among the shareholders believe all the families would sell if the price was right, and were convinced the new owners could build a team capable of competing regularly for the La Liga title and Champions League. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/2571331/2021/05/11/sevilla-battle-in-boardroom/ (paywall) Reading elsewhere, it seems like 777's investment came from a loan from Oleg Boiko, who is trying to get his money back.
I stopped paying attention to the Eredivisie about a month ago, after PSV had already lost twice to Ajax and were 9 points behind them. Until your post just now, I assumed Ajax had already secured the league title by now. I wouldn't have ever guessed PSV would be heading into the final two games only a point behind.
Justin Che Congratulations to Justin Che ('03) on helping Patro Eisden win the Belgian Challenger League Promotion Playoffs! They will now play a one off final against Circle Brugge to decide who will compete in the Jupiler Pro League next season!#usmnt https://t.co/YJ7Ex7ZQzM— USMNT Report 🇺🇸🇹🇷 (@USMNTReport) May 11, 2025
Yup, Ajax certainly committed serious damaged and dropped points where they shouldnt have. Theyre in real danger of throwing it. Twente and Groningen arent gonna be easy pickings.
He creates the possession, then delivers an athletic play to save possession/deliver an assist on the same play. Then he anticipates play and finishes up another Joao Felix goof parade with well-deserved a garbage goal. “Shit, Felix is trying to score again, I better get there quick…” GOAL PULISIC! PUUUULIIIIIII!!!!
