Balo was mercifully subbed out at 67'. The winning goal for Nice was at 91' (et). Balo's contribution in the run of play was that he occupied the attention of the Nice CBs who were very physical and who did not give him any space. it was the type of situation where someone else for Monaco had to step up.

edit- of course if Balo had converted at least 1 of the pks, the game would have opened up.

Yea, Balogun hasn't played poorly per se, but I'd call it bang average. He got off to a slow start the 1st game and a half where the argument were "well he was making good runs". Then he scored the goal and started to cook the rest of the 2nd game. But in this 2nd camp he couldn't get out of 2nd gear again. Scored the tap-in, but there was clear frustration.

The system doesn’t have a link between #9 and other #8, Balo stays at top will not have services coming his way, he has to pull back and himself being a #8.

Aaronson goes a half for Union while Jay Brooks is steady as she goes for Hoffenheim who is up 2-0 at 67.

Christian Pullisic had a quiet game against Verona.

He had one good move and shot on goal and then that was it and was subbed out.

    Milan 1- Verona 0!

Turner and Forest lose 2-0 at City, or as they call in the business, an very good result

Saw the second half of Pulisic(AM/FW in 4231) and Milan's 1-0 win over Verona.

Puli looked a bit more lively compared to his performances in the previous two matches. Playing centrally may have helped given the pace has gone. He showed excellent quickness in making a spin move to free himself to get a dangerous left-footed shot on goal. His lack of a swivel head and lack of physically were exposed a bit, though, as he was simply run off the ball a number of times. He needs to be stronger in when receiving the pass. He could have a future at AM/FW.

He was played out of position at RM. He did well for that. He worked hard on both sides of the ball. He did decently in his duals. He frequently made the wrong decisions in attack, but he's not an attacking player.

Tough to say if it was or wasn't. They got bossed in the 1st half and trailed 2-0. Then City went down to 10 men at the beginning of the 1st half. Subsequent to that, Forest actually had the better of the play. You might not even expect that at City. But in a vacuum, if you have an extra man, it should be easier.

Same goes for Turner's performance. 2 goals allowed in a half 11 v. 11 at City isn't bad, nor should he have made either save. And 2 goals for a game is good, w/out the caveat of playing up a man for a half. He didn't really do anything either way to say he played well or poorly. It was what it was.

These are not the x-factor games where he projects to make a mark. At City is kind of a throwaway. Forest will always expect to lose, and probably handily. Matt needs to help them get results against the Crystal Palaces and Aston Villas of the EPL to avoid relegation and maybe even flirt w/ European places.

Yunus had a 7.1 from Whoscored. He must have done something right.

Musah was excellent on both sides of the ball in his first start. Went 90 in spite of cramping up at the end. Milan switched to a 3-4-3 and Musah played wide right. We now have 3 players playing as wingback in Serie A.

Puli had a couple good moments today but the bad was noticeable as he fell with the ball a few times. But the big issue for Milan has been the front 3 as a whole has looked in a funk since the international break.

Musah looked decent but also needs to be less conservative on the ball. Did look much better once Jovic came in

    I guess the campaign to call a 433 a 4231 has worked so well now we are calling a 343/3421 a 4231.

edit: Reason why they used it

Dest with another strong game for PSV. He's been their best player so far this season.

Pepi goal! Defender slips twice, Pepi calmly jukes the keeper and slides it home just before the final whistle.
