I can't tell if this is an example of the hunter becoming the hunted, or hoisting with one's own petard?
🚑 BREAKING: Vincent Kompany reveals Luca Koleosho will be out for the majority of the season with a knee injury. "It's bad news for us, he will be out for a while. We hope he will still play at some point this season but it will be towards the end."#twitterclarets | #UTC pic.twitter.com/ahuzfSdLBp— TurfCast - Burnley FC Fan Channel (@TurfCastPodcast) December 7, 2023
I was never a big LDLT proponent but kudos to those who were. It is the point of this forum to talk about and promote players who should be looked at for the NT. They don't have to be "special", just better than the incumbent options! How are posters who advocated foe LDLT "Berhalter Bashers" given that Berhalter took LDLT to the WC instead of Lletget, or Trapp, or Yueill? Sounds like those advocates were correct in their assessment?
Once again showed he was good with the game in front of him but didn't look great tracking back into the box on Bournemouth's 2nd goal which sealed the victory. Mite be a bit harsh but we'll see going forward if there's a trend. Crystal Palace played with heavy legs compared to their opponent. Both sides were playing on 2 days rest as each had a game on Sunday. Bmouth played Villa and CP played WHam. Somebody threw a bottle at CPs 76 year old manager Roy Hodgson at the end. There is talk that he could be replaced.
LDLT's specialty is being the shuttler which the USA's team needs. The contradiction is that I think he played v. Japan when a shuttler is exactly what was missing. That doesn't reflect all that well on Berhalter. Again, Berhalter and midfielders. LDLT's manager at club is Benitez and he had him playing the central mid position in a 3 man midfield v. RealMadrid and they held them to the very end before Jude put one in to win 1-0. If you compare fotmob stats Madrid game v. japan game, what you see is that LDLT couldn't win any duels or dribble v. RM whereas he could v. japan. However, v. Real Madrid, LDLT passed 93% v. 76% against Japan. He had 6 passes into final third v. Madrid but only 1 v. japan. fot mob stats v. This is absolutely not correct and reflects an ignorance about what xG can and can't tell us. xG tells us next to nothing about the performance of a GK. Interestingly enough this was the second Fulham match this season where a team scored 5 goals with an xG of ~2.5 and on both occasions the GK who let in the 5 goals (Leno vs. Man City and the Greek yesterday) was essentially blameless with respect to every one of those goals. Now as for Turner v the Greek and Forest's GK situation. I haven't been impressed with either of them and as far as I'm concerned whoever is managing Forest (sounds like Cooper is getting at least one more match) has to choose between two comfortably below average PL level GKs. I do think some folks are making a bit too much of the Greek's advanced stats. We're talking about a very small sample size and frankly I don't really even look at those stats until we have a useful/meaningful sample (at least double digit appearances).
Hopefully this gives him some time for a Gregg Saban recruitment where he can meet the boys and help him learn how to america like Balogun
Hopefully we learn what type of knee injury but it’s the UK and their medical terminology is Stone Age. At least the hopeful timeline suggests it’s not the ACL.
McKennie(RCM in 352) and Juventus get the 1-0 win over Napoli to move in the 1st. Sofascore(6.9)9th Brooks(CB in 4231) and Hoffenheim get the 3-1 over Bochum. A 4-man backline has been rarity for Hoffenheim this season. Brooks wasn't at fault for the goal against. Sofascore(6.7)9th Reynolds(RB in 4231), Yow(RAM in 4231) and Westerlo get the 2-1 win over Kortrijk Reynolds Sofascore(6.7)10th Yow Sofascore(6.5)14th Wright(LF in 433) and Coventry get the 2-0 win over Birmingham Sofascore(7.2)6th
This is the only way Brooks makes it back to the national team. Keep playing well in a four back system and he will get another shot. Can he stay consistent?
Chris Richards has been excellent at the 6. Crystal Palace have figured out something with him there. Forces Liverpool to go around. Nothing has been able to come up the middle for them. He’s shut that down.
L’Equipe feature on Folarin Balogun at Monaco: Assessment: OK season, not yet influential enough, but already preferred over captain Wissam Ben Yedder (who’ll be out of contract). Adi Hutter likes him for runs in behind back line. Issue is, how to beat teams with low blocks? pic.twitter.com/dxrfHN61Oi— Paul Kennedy (@pkedit) December 9, 2023 Sounds familiar
Sure but how many forwards are really good at both of those? I do suspect he will get better at his weakness by getting older, stronger and more experienced.
I don't disagree, I just think a lot of people in the usmnt fandom (mostly on twitter/youtube) don't always realize the type of striker Balo is currently... and that's not an insult or criticism of Balo... I just think it shows there are gonna be certain types of teams that currently he will either struggle against or be fairly invisible against
I love the way Balogun sees those runs and uses his body to get on the end of through passes. He puts the lie to the idea that that form of attack is dead.
Back-to-back MOTM performances from Lompoc's Julian Araujo. Sofascore high 8.3 rating. I saw the stretch to close out the game, and he was the immovable object. One of the best RB's in La Liga now. What a fumble.
Good for Aruajo. Great for MLS. But he had always been leaning El Tri. Breaking down low blocks is as much a team issue as a striker issue. Ways to improve: 1. have a better transition game. If a team advances the ball at a glacial pace, no striker is going to beat a low block 2. us more creative players 3. play with two forwards. One can be the creative type. The other can be the pacy runner.
