Tillman's going to get a lot of playing time with PSV. He's better than Saibari and Til, his main competition. It's not going to be a hard call for them to pick up that option to buy. And it's just a matter of time before Pepi moves ahead of de Jong.
I'm not sure if Pepi moves ahead of de Jong this season. ...........but he's heir apparent. I mean, de Jong already has like 11 goals across all competitions this season. Pepi will get plenty of time. I'm not worried about it. Fixture congestion will pile up. And I'm really happy with Tillman and Dest. As far as I'm concerned, Tillman is currently ahead of Reyna on the depth chart. Cuz he's playing and playing well.
He might be, but de Jong is scoring. With PSV in first place..............If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Don't get me wrong. I agree with you. And as I said, I'm not worried about it. Pepi will get plenty of time, and at some point will assume the mantle.
I just learned recently that Luuk de Jong has more career Eredivisie goals than any other player in the last 40+ years (see here). Until there's a drastic dropoff in de Jong's form, that's going to be a pretty hard player to unseat this season.
I actually hope they don't run de Jong into the ground where he gets injured and then Pepi has too many minutes and too much pressure. Just rotate him in more and plan for him integrate more as the season advances and maybe even try a few two forward formations when needing a goal.
Seems to be the plan. A lot of teams with deep squads rotate surprisingly little. If someone is playing well they ride him hard until he gets hurt or his form drops due to exhaustion. If soccer players were horses it would be considered cruelty to animals.
De jong is basically a club legend. He's the 2nd leading goal-scorer in the history of PSV, and that's a long history. He's not 39. He's 33. There will be some rotation during the dog days of the season. I have no worries about playing time for Pepi. Of course Pepi was going there to back up de Jong this season. Everybody knew that de Jong would be the #1. Who didn't? Even if Pepi goes on a torrid goal-scoring run for PSV this season in the chances he gets, de Jong will still be the #1. We knew that going in. Next season? We'll see.
Zendejas(lam in 4231) scored America's 4-0 win over Pachuca. 1 goal 3/4 dribble 6/12 ground duels 44/53 passing 1 key pass Sofascore(7.9)3rd If Koleosho declines, Zendejas wouldn't be a bad call up.
It’s definitely bizarre to me that they play him so much. If the plan was to integrate Pepi, given his price tag, then you’d think that they would regularly bring him in at 60 minutes or so. Or, if they really value De Jong and want to have him available all year, you’d think they’d give him more rest to keep him fresh. He’s logging a ton of minutes for anyone, let alone a 33 yo striker.
I think Koleosho is the better talent, but yeah, Paredes has been producing for Wolfsburg for awhile now, at a position where we have very little depth. It’s still insane to me that he didn’t feature for the senior team this summer. Instead, they brilliantly sent him to Argentina with the u20s late, and he barely played.
Looks like Musah will get the start at #6 for Milan in today's UCL clash vs Dortmund. Pulisic will start at his usual Wide Forward slot. No word on will there be a Gio sighting for Dortmund. Fingers crossed for 3 Yanks on the field for a UCL clash!
It’s not a stretch at all. He had 1 goal and 3 assists in 509 Bundesliga minutes last year. I haven’t watched him this year, but he was regularly used as a sub last year, and consistently made an impact when he played. The numbers aren’t eye popping, but there is absolutely no reason he can’t play a similar role for the USMNT that he does in the Bundesliga, and we desperately need somebody who can spell CP and Weah and provide what they do without a big drop in quality.
The late arrival definitely affected things, but it’s not like he was bad. He drew a couple of fouls and should’ve drawn more. Uruguay were trying to muck up the game, and while he wasn’t outstanding, he did a decent job given the circumstances.
Pepi was significantly involved in both goals for PSV after coming on very late. Tilman's dive was a 9.8 in my book. I think his heart beat went up 10 beats from 5 to 15 for this event and he is threatening to overtake Pirlo soon. Must have been the big stage. A scout would say he "plays like" Gio Reyna. I havent followed him much because I don't think he was starting for PSV but he started this one and lasted 90'.
