Is she hurt? She scored 3 goals in back to back games, but hasn't been on the roster in the two games since?
Horan scored the game winner for PSG over Montpellier on the 27th of Sept. She is tied for 2nd in goals with limited minutes
Apparently US Soccer has rescinded her clearance to play in Germany because HSV want her to stay until May and NWSL wants her back for the start of the season in March. Or something like that. If you know German or feel like wading through a poor Google translation, there are articles about it here: http://www.nw-news.de/sport/lokalsp...ord/11262760_Wirbel_um_Spielberechtigung.html http://www.nw-news.de/sport/lokalsp...iedenstal/11264072_Ein_Tag_zum_Vergessen.html
She isn't. She signed a 2 year contract with HSV. They're saying it's extortion... which I don't think is too far off the mark.
Are you sure she isn't under contract with the Thorns or, to be exact, the NWSL? My understanding is they assert she is; and that HSV says she isn't.
In the McDonald case if Portland wanted her back next year they should have signed her and then loaned her to Herforder. The idea that her former club can somehow leverage her without a contract is absurd. The powers that be have to get it thru their heads that u cant play a short season for low pay and expect players to pass up other opportunities. Even if the contract in Germany was for the same monthly number its its value is still double. These second tier players need to start shopping their services overseas or the discount league is never going to pay them anything. hard to figure what Portland offered her to stay, assuming they made her an offer. Considering how many offensive players Portland loses to WC next year ud think McDonald would have been re-inked ASAP.
No one is sure of anything with the NSA...err...NWSL. McDonald was signed to the standard contract by Chicago in 2013. Seattle picked her up off the waiver wire so they picked up that contract. Seattle then traded her to Portland with the rights to Moros for Foxhoven. As this took place in November, Seattle must have picked up the option year on the contract. If Portland didnt sign McDonald to a new contract, it should have ended on August 31, 2014.
There was no announcement from Portland or the NWSL that an option was picked up or a new contract signed by the deadline date, which lead me to believe she was a free agent. She then signed a 2 year contract with HSV and her transfer to Germany was initially approved by US Soccer. So I dunno, if she wasn't a free agent, somebody somewhere messed up big time.
