officially the goal’s been credited to Russo, commentator’s repeatedly felt it was Heaps that touched it. Whichever, felt like an deflection hampered the GK from saving it surprised Yohannes taken out so early(about 60th min) when it could of been an potential 120 min bout. Lily was superb at high pressing & as well as bringing the ball, but stuck achieving ant major stat with the hopeless Hegeberg at the #9. She was already pulled off before the more lethal Katoto came in. Dumornay an far better starter choice than Shrader(who came in for Lily) Fox having an hard time dealing with Arsenal’s weakish transitioning midfield—which barely could get into Lyon’s side. She also was assigned to shadow my girl, Brand, which she obviously up not doing an very good job at it
Other Champions League semis/2nd leg of Barca/Bayern was wildly entertaining but very error prone & did expose majors flaws in Barca’s defense. So we got to hope that Lyon’s all American midfield can take advantage of it. Yohannes, Heaps & Shrader(who could start or come in later as an valuable sub)will play key parts in this match especially how well they can disrupt & intercept the supposedly vaunted possession style of Barca. There’s no real magic in Barca’s ticky tacky/possession crap—-they simply sent their backline up & outnumber what ever their opponent got at midfield. But one errand pass or good tackle will give an explosive speed burning fwd(Lyon got many) an opportunity to bounce into an very open upfield, with Yohannes vision finding that open team mate playing such an key importance btw….. I apologize if this isn’t the proper thread to post this
Laney Matriano is playing in Sweden (and marrying some dude from the NFL): I’ll take this convo from football to futbol real quick. On the Arsenal-Aston Villa game broadcast it was mentioned that Emily Fox had not been re-signed (same also for McCabe, Foord and Mead). So Emily's club future is undecided and, I guess, we can speculate that there could be opportunities on both sides of the Atlantic. Perhaps her preference is to continue there and try to play Champions League. If Barcelona lose Battle to Arsenal, would they consider Fox? Lyon have Lawrence who's a bit older than Fox, but they spend money and like Americans. Hopefully she doesn't go to City or Chelsea their right backs are too good to need someone of similar value. NWSL could be lucrative, she could qualify for High Impact status, but who there would think a right back warrants a top salary as a strategic investment? There's a lot to consider for her immediate future. To be in the US for World Cup/Olympic back-to-back might be helpful for national team call-ups. Playing with some US national teamers could be advantageous. In the end I like the intrigue and challenge of playing for Barcelona, she could learn a lot there and measure herself against the best , though not in the league as much as on her team. Staying at Arsenal wouldn't be bad, but if they are haggling about money and/or contract length then she might be wondering what she's got to do to earn their respect for what she's already contributed and how they value her future.
I would be surprised if Fox (along with at least Mead, and maybe the other two) is not resigned. As far as where she could go..everywhere. I wonder, though, if she is going to run into the same issue with Bunny Shaw in that Arsenal are willing to pay her wage, but not the length of contract.
it be more clearer immediately after the season ends as a lot of players want to make sure that the club they choose secures an spot in the Champions League. Saying that’s though, I’ve read that several of the major clubs are trimming their woso budgets—taking it they want money for their mens side due to all the potential talent that the 2026 might produce. The real winner right now would Michelle Kang if she just stays interested in woso & of course any WSL or NWSL club owned by Americans(as we usually give equal opportunity to both bro & woso
Lyon-PSG playing final of Coupe de France and Lyon starting Heaps and Yohannes in midfield (along with Dumornay, so seems first-choice MF). Couldn't find bench but assume Shrader on it. Would be cool to win another trophy adding to the Coupe de la Ligue, likely League championship and possible Champions League, so could be a four trophy season for the three Americans!
A. Thompson starting for Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final against Man City @ Kingsmeadow. Disappointing that neither Girma nor Coffey is in the gameday roster--I've not heard about either being injured, must be. Girma has had a very dicey start to her Chelsea stint, probably been more injured than not and some bad performances, good thing Davidson is back, as well as Sonnet. As for Coffey, I've seen her play well for Man City, but this is her second missed game since return from the friendlies, probably all the international travel hasn't helped.
Can't find this game to watch, what gives? Just saw Lyon out to a 2-0 start, Dumornay and Becho with the goals (Brand with the assist to Becho @hotjam2 she;s still on fire!)
You must mean Jule ‘balon d’or’ Brand, lol. Yeah can’t find any stream for this game either, but Chelsea/Man City match seems everywhere
Agree that Brand has been unsung hero at Lyon this season, they have to start her against Barcelona (especially if Chawinga not fit). PS Heaps with the fourth goal and three Americans play in the Coupe de France final and earn the 4-1 win.
Correction, game is at Stamford Bridge. Thompson's been electric and showing off her speed, but can't pull the trigger quick-enough but she creates chances. Lots of talent on the bench if Chelsea need them--they are still very deep, regardless who's missing.
Madison Haley scored the second goal in a comeback victory (3-2) for Brighten against Liverpool in the other FA Cup Semi-final. She's one to keep an eye on for national team, Hayes would know of her.

Oops! Chelsea blow their 2-0 lead and lose 2-3 in extra time. In hindsight, taking Thompson off at 80th minute was a major mistake. Thompson gave Chelsea an advantage in holding the ball away from City. Also Chelsea did squander a bunch of chances throughout the game, tho City also missed more shots than usual. Gratefully, for me English football about over this season.
Plus she's been playing for 18 months, so maybe a rest? Kind of surprised she didn't start, or play, though I do expect her for the final. She looks so happy with that. It almost seems that her mental state has improved since the move to Denver was announced. All season she didn't look happy, but since she has. With the Denver domination his weekend, perhaps things are looking up.
Vintage Heaps, she can still do world class stuff, especially with a world class delivery a la Bacha's excellent vision.
Repped because I think you spelled balon right this time, although it'd be cool to earn a golden baloon.
