Mia Elizabeth Corbin (where exactly does she come from, by the way? :cautious:) scores at her debut in Serie A Femminile, in Parma, just two minutes after being subbed-in at Half-Time, and her goal ends up being the decider of the game. :coffee:

For records, there are other American players in Italy's professional league: Jazmin Nicole Jackmon and Jenna Menta in Fiorentina (although the latter is now leaving) and Antoinette Jewel Williams, also in Parma. Jackmon even scored a goal, earlier in the season, despite being a DF.

Former Notre Dame midfielder Korbin Albert joins PSG women

PARIS (AP) — American midfielder Korbin Albert has signed a contract with French club Paris Saint-Germain until 2025 after forgoing her remaining eligibility at Notre Dame.

Albert, of Grayslake, Illinois, was regarded as one of the best midfielders in college soccer. She scored 16 goals last season as a sophomore and helped her team reach the NCAA quarterfinals.

“Paris Saint-Germain has a great reputation, especially on the men’s side with Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé or Neymar Jr,” the 19-year-old Albert told PSG’s website Tuesday. “So joining this club was something great for me. I’m a big fan of them, and obviously also of the women’s team.”

Albert has represented the United States at youth levels including at the Under-20 World Cup in Costa Rica last year.

PSG stands second in the French league standings, one point behind leader Lyon.

If this is discussed somewhere else I couldn't find it. Is there any consensus on whether US based women's league is on par with the European version in terms of overall talent and competitiveness? How about spending comparisons, do any of you experts know?

It's hard to make comparisons, but the NWSL teams have done well against the top Euro clubs in the friendly tournaments that have been held in the US the last few years.

The top Euro leagues tend to be top heavy. One or two teams will dominate the league and might lose one match and draw 1-2. They will have GD of +60-80, which is often roughly 4-0 per match. Barcelona had a GD of +148 while winning all 30 matches last year (Spain isn't really a top league, but Barcelona is one of the top teams). The leagues generally are pro-am after the first few teams.

The WSL is more balanced, though 2-3 teams will usually dominate. Whether their bottom half could beat the bottom half of the NWSL is up for debate.

The top Euro teams are equal to or slightly better than NWSL teams, but it's close.
