Ok, being the self-proclaimed king of this thread, I decided to start a new thread on this because the old one bored me... Anyway, is anyone/ everyone going to try to get together to watch the US-El Salvador match next weekend? Splarg had mentioned that the Sports Cafe in Piccadilly might be showing it. Any confirmation on that, or any other ideas for places?
Re: Re: Yank FANS in London v. 4.0 I'll try and make it, I'll be arriving with my wife at around noon on the 17th, going out with a few friends, should be at our new place at around 5 or 6, will most likely need a nap, so if we're up and feeling like it we'll try and show up. Can you give me any ideas where Sports Cafe is located? I'm going to be staying in Holloway. I'm just moving over there, so I realy don't have much of a clue where anything is.
Profiled, SportsCafe is on Haymarket street almost all the way down the street (a good two blocks from the tube stop). I believe the Eros statue is on the corner of Haymarket (you would go right from there). I'm off in the states next week, but my flight gets in around 7, so I'll probably try to make it, if possible.
If you didn't proclaim yourself king of the thread, i would have done it for you. King. I'm sure that SC will be showing the match. Should be good fun.
Did some looking around, in case someone else was lurking and thinking of going, here is there site, it has a map. http://www.thesportscafe.com/
Rock on, though I must admit it's hard to get oneself psyched for a match vs. El Salvador... Oh well. See everyone there.
Re: Re: Re: Yank FANS in London v. 4.0 My advice is to avoid the nap. It will only prolong your jet lag. In any case, if you're coming down you can see the Sports Cafe on the corner of Haymarket and Pall Mall next to the Scottish Tourist Board. It's two blocks south of the Tube station. I might be tempted to drive down as Sunday night traffic is pretty dead in that area. Holloway is North London so I presume you could take a bus as well down the A400 (Tottenham Court Road, Charing Cross). Make sure you call to confirm they are showing the match before you go. (Tel: 020 7839 8300). I'll be there with my wife and an old DC United jersey.
I for one would like to see who this Eddie Robison chap is (http://espn.go.com/soccer/s/2002/1107/1457488.html) and how well Twellman does.
Just a reminder, but if anyone who lurks or posts here isn't on my email list of "happenings," "be-ins" and what-not, and would like to be, then PM or email me and I'll be happy to add you.
Footie anyone? I have an extra ticket to the Westham/Leeds match on sunday. If anyone is interested please private message me and we can set up a meeting place. Dylan
Reminder -- 8pm @ the Sports Cafe on Haymarket near Piccadilly. US vs. El Salvador. http://www.thesportscafe.com/
I'm going to be late getting there for the match.... miss the first half and the beginning of the 2'nd it looks like. I'll still show up even if its for the last 5 min and a pint though!
It turns out the match WASN'T actually on. Sports Café has "ESPN Orbit" not the regular stateside ESPN. ESPN Orbit was not showing the match. I went there to complain, but i was met by a hot woman who told me this. I couldn't get mad at her. Not only was it a good reason, but she was really hot.
Westham Its my last week in London and I was thinking trying to see the Hammers one more time before I go. Anyone interested in the Bolton Westham match on Sat?
arrgg that sucks that the match wasnt on... ESPN orbit sucks i remember that channel... f_ck that... you could have seen us lucky bastards who were actually in the stands getting raped by the sallies... but all in all it was a great match even though it was 20 degrees and pouring... dos a cero~! p.s. anyone who got to see the game.. how did La Norte look behind the goal?
