articles like those always make me laugh. I have not read one single solitary article that ever says that United even called Yallop. but a bunch of people whisper that he must want to come and coach Freddy Adu, and so the guy has to come out and say he isn't interested. THEN, you read a headline that implies that he turned down DC, when in all likelihood, there was probably never even any contact between the 2 sides to begin with.
I completely agree. My understanding is that Yallop is under contract to SJ. That means AT MINIMUM, we would need to ask permission of SJ to talk to him. SJ has admitted they have given permission of the CNT to talk with Yallop and those talks are going on. No-one has indicated DCU asked for and was given permission to talk to Yallop. So he issues a denial to quell the rumors.
Yallop did not say no to DC. Yallop told Chris Bergin (or someone who works with/for him) that he would say no to DC if they possibility existed. There was an article yesterday in the Canadien press and today in the LA Times saying that the CSA just got permission to talk to Yallop. If the CSA needs permission, so does DCU. They can't get an answer from Frank until they get an answer from the league and/or the Quakes. And they're not that far yet.
