I assume this is pure speculation, but I haven't heard of any new contract for Frank. http://www.nj.com/metrostars/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/1034241603283820.xml
No way Yallop would consider it. If he was going to switch coaching jobs, it would be for the Nats or Europe. Same for Bradley. Both have put together good programs, their programs. They don't want to rebuild (although Yallop is definitely going to do some housecleaning).
I think this is more of your typical "everyone would rather be in NY if they had a chance" mentality speculation. Usually started by the NY media. Same going on right now for SF Giants' manager Dusty Baker and the NY Mets, although our local media is all over that one, too.
That could be part of it. But the article did back up why it named Franky - said his contract is up this year.
One New York paper also said it would be Bob Bradley. Neither Bob nor Frank would leave their teams for NY/NJ. And it's going to be Dave Saraccen (sp) anyways.
It's probably Sarachan. I doubt that Frank would want to be in that mess. He's created his own program here. I like BM's point about an article that is NYcentric: "everyone would rather be in NY if they had a chance." I wonder if Goodsport's archives contain that map showing New York City at the center of the world. Frank's going to Germany to coach Bayer-Leverkusen?
I just was thinking the other day how much I miss Calloway and Osiander....Not! Frank will sign for another 2-3 years...
Ipswich now have a vacancy!!! I think if we lose anyone and the Mets are seriously looking to the future it could be Dom... -Richard
Yes, the trend in searching for head coaches seems to be to look amongst the assistants rather than from those who are already head coaches.
i'm a bit lazy to read the whole thread, but my take on the topic is that yallop is a great coach. i don't see why he should leave the quakes, or why they would let him go, and opt for that metros opening. i'd hate to see him go. and i still can't believe why he was not nominated for MLS coach of the year this year.
??1/4i]Originally posted by twell_girl [/i] ....and i still can't believe why he was not nominated for MLS coach of the year this year. [/QUOTE]True, very true. What he did with this team in holding it together and staying on top through all of the injuries and absences qualifies him to be coach of the year more than any other in MLS. Their accomplishments don't match even if they win the cup. As far as Frank and Dom being here next year, not to worry. I'm sure they will be (they said so).
I think there is a lot of work Yallop and Kinnear want to do before they feel satisfied with what they've done. They definitely should be proud with the program they've put together, but I think they still feel like they have something to prove.
Without a doubt, D. Those two aren't going to be happy until they once more "bring home the bacon," or "bring that coonskin home and nail it on the wall," or whatever other metaphor you prefer.
I had the chance to chat with Dominic a USF match a week ago. I asked him point blank if he was coming back. He said: "If Frank will have me, I'll be back!" He almost seemed astonished that anyone would think he'd leave. I asked him if he would want a head coaching position but he said the only job open would be MetroStars. And he didn't sound interested.
