I doubt Manny will play personally. I figured it would take til the end of the month to get that situated, but obviously I'd welcome his addition tomorrow.
I think it's ridiculous that Yakubu's failed in his initial bid for a work permit. He's been playing here (regularly!) for at least 3 seasons...
Unfortunately its not transferable between clubs. Everton will have to go thru appeal, and I'm sure they will have it accepted. Good to get another striker for Everton. They could use an experienced goal scorer. Anichebe and Vaughan have lots of potential but still have much to learn.
The good thing about Yakubu being experienced is that he's 24. Lot's of seasons of goals, goals, goals!
He's listed at 24 but I think we all know the reputation and history Nigerian players have of changing their ages to their benefit. I'm not saying that's definitely the case with the Yak, just that it wouldn't surprise me at the same time.
He seems a little bit lazy to me though, like Beattie. Here's hoping that he turns out a might better.
The Martins thing was just a rumour. I know Martins looks 30, but he really is only about 23. It's just the way they look, otherwise they'd be retiring at '27'!
Once he got in shape, sure. Before that, he was lazy. Out of necessity or otherwise, it was still laziness.
Valencia official site now saying they've agreed to a fee with Benifica and Manny is set for a medical there tomorrow. Sickening if true...
for 15 million as well, perfect price for a talent like him. spain will probably suit his skills more, but playing in england added so much steal and power to his game that i hope he doesnt lose it.
Two trains of thought. Either blame the FA for holding it up for so long, or blame the Kenwright or Wyness, as usual.
Or maybe it was just that the price was 15 milliion quid. We weren't in a position to splash that kind of cash after 11+ for Yak.
