for those little odds and ends that aren't worth a thread, but are related to YA nonetheless. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=426548&root=us&cc=5901 ESPNsoccernet: Do you ever want to return to Europe? Is it something on your mind and now that you have grown up? LD: Sometimes it's tempting to watch a game and go like; I think I can play there. It'd be fun to play in that situation at that level where it is constantly competitive. If it did happen, good, but I don't think it would be for a while, because I'm happy where I am. You also have to remember I'm married now; I have the dogs now too. It's not just what I think. I have to consider people around me. Does my wife want to go when her work is mainly in Los Angeles? What do we do with the dogs if that happened? If that could work out, I would consider it, but my guess is it wouldn't be for quite a while. A good Q&A in general, but that's the only question that relates to this forum. It's nice to see he's not point blank saying no to Europe, and it'd be interesting to see what would happen if a good team in a good location made an offer.
LD cracks me up! The dogs? He sounds like a puss! His wife has a career? I thought it was stalled! Nonetheless, like you said he didn't come and say he wouldn't return to Europe which is a good sign, I guess!
she just got a series (rules of engagement) and her IMDB.com bio doesn't look like a stalled career. and if it was stalled, nothing to jump start it like moving to Liverpool (yes I picked that team/city on purpose). now, who's the money on to be the first person to come in here and completely overreact to this quote from landon?
somoene just posted this - It appears that Joey Barton may have played his last match for Manchester City this past Saturday. The fiery midfielder reportedly punched City teammate Dabo in the mouth during today's training session, and Man City has suspended Barton til the end of the season. Barton, who missed a penalty against Aston Villa on Saturday, spoke out recently about Manchester City's season and said he wouldn't pay to watch the club play. Today's action by Barton is further evidence that Barton doesn't want to be at City and, I won't be surprised if City no longer wants Barton to be at their club. The timing by Barton is awful. Manchester City play at home against United in the derby on Saturday (7:45am ET, Setanta). lmfao
I really like the idea of a "random posts about miscellaneous shit" thread. It would be cool to see LD at a club like Mallorca one day...he'll have the sand/surf/Cali-esque weather as well as the Spaniards' obsession with starlets (granted, Mrs. D may have to star in her own telenovela, but that's a career, right?). Plus, I hear the dog-sitting there is top-notch.
Now, now Ringo just because Liverpool has more cars on blocks and is run by Scousers doesn't mean it isn't a beautiful city (at least around Anfield)
Some countries require pets to be quarantined for 6 months when they are imported. I've known a few people who have decided against an overseas job rather than put their beloved mongrel in a cage for that long.
I know i''m well aware of that. I did an internship during college in scotland and had to leave my dog with my folks to avoid the quarantine, It's just funny the way it reads! It just sounds like an excuse!
.... ManCity is safe, which is why he is suspended. They wouldn't suspend him if the club was still fighting relegation. So, this is basically a non-story. The ex-Thai PM ... now that's a story. As to Donovan, he ain't going outside of OC.
"if you were to ask me if I thought that there was suspicion in this suspension, then I would say yes. Everyone plays by different rules when it comes to Chelsea, but we can not control the action of Manchester City. But we are Chelsea, and we are confident." -Jose Mourinho* ok so he didn't say that, but he it's believable that he could of
I gotta agree, the dog bit is hilarious. It may well be true (though I kept waiting for someone to stop me walking my cat through customs, and no one ever blinked). Okay, is he a bad man to love his dogs? No, obviously not. But it's awfully close to, "the dog ate my homework..." ("the dogs ate my euro career...") As noted before, I could care less where he ends up playing. And did they really get schooled like that by pool when they were at home? Forgotten all about that part of it, are you sure? Appoo, are you sure? probably are. Man, that's sad. FWIW: Reading needs a central mid (with sidwell leaving), and, in the same vien of serious discussion that is going on here, Coppell did note that John Mad have given him $400m for a transfer kitty.
absolutely. Liverpool dominated for 60 ~ 65 minutes, with Robson Ponte shitting the bed, and Aughalter brought in Landon and one other dude, and immediatly the match turned around, with Leverkusen having the run of play. Leverkusen got a goal, and then gave up a goal. Post match, our boy got a lot of praise from his coach and the media for being a key to turning the match around. Then on the return leg, LD missed an early sitter, and got lost the rest of the match, and eventually subbed around the 55th minute. But people like to forget the match at Anfield and concentrate on the 2nd leg. I don't really blame Leverkusen for getting beat like that mind you. Afterall, Leverkusen won the tournament that year - and had the better of play vs. both Juventus and Chelsea, before winning that thriller in Istanbul
Except that he lives in LAC. Anyone know how old his dogs are? Sweet little Norse-named buggers from what I remember in that glorious episode of "Cribs."
The rules changed in England (all the UK I think) a few years ago abolishing the 6 month quarantine when the originating country qualifies (the USA qualifies). Now there's a fairly complicated process you must go through and you need to plan ahead because you're basically performing the 6 month quarantine at your home in the USA. http://www.slowtrav.com/uk/planning/pets.htm I don't know about other countries.
With Bianca's show being watched by 13.3 million people how long until she's making more money than Landon, third season?
The show's not bad, but I don't really see it exploding. I see it having a 2-4 year run, assuming it gets picked up for that 2nd season.
Actors on new shows usually sign 5 year contracts (assures cost control until possible syndication). If her show gets a 22-episode pick-up, she'll make around $1M, with the ~ $20K/episode SAG rerun minimum added to her ~ $25-30K (90/10% split with her agent) per episode fee. Plus, she probably makes $100+K from other reruns and new jobs. Her mainly supporting role doesn't give her much leverage in renegotiating however and Les Moonves likes to be an occasional hard-ass anyway, so her compensation ceiling is limited. She's not going to have a career in features either. He could obviously make more in Europe but you can't complain much about a $2M/Y family income.
"The Surreal Life" here we come! To change random topics a bit, are there any Americans playing in Asia? I remember a guy playing in the J-League awhile back.
Are you saying we could see Landon and people like Ron Jeremy and Sanjaya on the Surreal Life sometime soon?? Don't tease me now, 'cause I'd go out and buy DVR just for that. Former Rev Dan Calichman played abroad in the J-League, if memory serves. Hiroshima, was it? He might have been the first Yank to play there--but was he the last? I'd be interested to hear of others.
