Xamax complained to the Swiss FA that they want more tickets for the Cupfinal. Xamax received 9,000, while Basel received 17,000 (the rest is reserved for the FA.) Apparently the FA asked every club before the semis how many seats they want in case of an appearance in the final. Xamax apparently said 9,000. I guess Xamax didn't realize until now that they could sell half of the tickets. This is the first time the FA split the tickets up and let the two clubs sell 'em. Last year tickets went on sale on ticketcorner.ch (Switzerland's equivalent to Ticketbastar....ehh...Ticketmaster) I know it's Xamax's mistake, but it still sucks. Yet another lapdance for Basel by the FA.
I guess I should be upset, but it seems like better management by Basel than Xamax. I imagine that given the proximity of Neuchatel to Basel, there would be quite a few people that would want to go, this could have been a nice cash cow for Xamax. The FA should have given each team half the tickets, that would minimize the home field advantage to a small bit. But Xamax is going to have a really difficult time in this game.
Agreed. Just give each team half the tickets. Should one team not be able to sell 'em all until -let's say one week- before the cupfinal, then make 'em available to the general public.
The Swiss FA has given Xamax 250 extra tickets. According to L'Express, Neuchatel's newspaper there were at the end on monday 400 tickets allocated to Xamax left. 300 tickets at the 100 CHF level and 100 at the 35 CHF level.
