Check out his article on MLS.net. Good stuff. Right to point, even funny. This guy makes sense. Any GM openings in San Jose yet? Go Quakes!
I'd like to see Wynalda become a GM in the future years to come. Shoot, they picked Alexi....why not?
I gotta tell you, I hated him as a player, with or without the Clash, but I love him as a broadcaster and writer. Notice how he says you can't sell the sport to youth, you have to let it sell itself. They need something to talk about.....an experience. I couldn't agree more.
You know, I hate to admit that I agree with his comments. I, too, hated Whine-alda as a player, and am still making up my mind on him as a broadcaster, but his editorial comments are often right on.
As a broadcaster(color analyst), he doesn't pull his punches no matter who the player is. I love that......if it is a friend, he will still speak his mind. That's rare with guys that have jumped from a sport to the booth.
That was a great column. He "gets" it. Maybe AEG/MLS will get it, too, and start to focus their efforts accordingly.
