Anyone registered on there yet? It's a newer forum site dedicated to MISL fans. Check it out if you haven't already. www.MISLfans.net
I dunno, looks like we have a pretty darn good site right here, and it's convenient for the other boards dealing with soccer. Why should we go to that site? Is there something different?
I registered a few months ago, but haven't posted in a while. Glad to see it's still up and running and like the new logo! If I may make a suggestion: It would be cool if you made an online store and took logos from past and current teams and put them on shirts and things and sold them. Good luck with the site!
It's dedicaded in entirety to indoor soccer and more specifically the MISL. In this forum anything goes, futsal and most recently, foot golf (posted by Cardshop) get mixed in with other topics that don't deal with indoor soccer. Then you get people fighting.... The moderation of this forum, in my honest opinion, is quite poor...
No, everything doesn't go here. Sometimes things get off topic but hey, do you always stay on topic during every single one of your personal conversations? Yeah, I don't either. What's wrong with foot golf. It may not be soccer, but, it uses soccer skills. It's an interesting tidbit he posted whether it was soccer or not, still related. Those are the things that make this site good. A little variety goes a long way. I'm not taking away anything from the other board, but I get some of us get everything we need right here. I hope you enjoy the other board, I hope you will find some enjoyment here too.
Take out the current teams part (unless he gets written permission from current teams) but taking logos from teams that have long past is not illegal! Once a brand or copyright is "abandoned" over a number of years, it's free for anyone to use.
So you think that's all you need? "Written permission?" Okay, then. Yeah, there wouldn't be any lawsuits at all over such a thing. You're woefully misinformed about how the trademark and licensing process works.
"A mark shall be deemed to be “abandoned”. . . when its use has been discontinued with intent not to resume such use. Intent not to resume may be inferred from circumstances. Nonuse for three consecutive years shall be prima facie evidence of abandonment. “Use” of a mark means the bona fide use of such mark made in the ordinary course of trade, and not made merely to reserve a right in a mark." When an indoor soccer team folds, it's trademark is not in use. That is, unless they are doing buisness in another way with the trademark. You have to keep a trademark alive or "active" once you buy it. It's not going to stick with you through life like a marriage license. This is one argument you are not going to win. Sorry, misinformed.
The reason the one apparell line couldn't make Chicago Sting shirts was because another apparrell line made the trademark "active" again. So if anyone was to make a vintage MISL shop, he/she couldn't make Chicago Sting gear (not that anyone would buy it anyway, just kidding!!) Therefore, anyone can legally make any other *abandoned* (key word) MISL team's gear that has not been made "active" again by someone else. Here is their website: http://www.classicsportslogos.com/ And here is all the trademarks THEY made "active" again: http://section219.com/trademarks.htm (The only MISL one being the Chicago Sting)
Ummm - is that website active? Can we order from it? are they selling anyting now that we can purchase? The answer to all questions is NO SO gee maybe they are still in planning stages trying to track down all the trademarks and get permission for use?? I don't know - could that be the case?
Glad to see you are all rilled up over this Go Storm, lol. They aren't doing buisness yet. To make a long story short, if they don't start using their trademarks (i.e. selling shirts, etc.) in 3 years then their trademarks are "abandoned" and anyone can start using them again or take over the trademarks themselves...
ummm not rilled - just curios and so they are not doing business yet but yet have a website that you are gaga over and you can't buy anything from them Great defense sir - Great promotion - you are a genious
I'm not understanding you... I'm "gaga" over the website? I'm just pointing out the company that renewed or "bought" a new trademark - the Sting - the case Kenntomasch linked to. In an odd way, by linking to that article, he supported my argument about trademark abandonment and being able to use trademarks (logos) of old sports teams that folded. (I think you came into the discussion to late and you might need to read earlier posts.. no offense intended..)
