Always thought Horan would start this game. Is she OK?

France: CAM Thiney for RM Asseyi (and 4-2-3-1 for 4-3-3).
    USA: Identical

Rapinoe-vs-Torrent and Diani-vs-Dunn :coffee: bring it

Per Wahl's tweet (previous page), Horan is hale, and shall surely be the supersub, like the Rohirrim.

Lets see they played poorly against Spain. Several players looked tired. Very odd use of substitutions.

So lets just repeat the same lineup. SMDH

Didn't a lot of them die in what they thought would be a suicidal charge?

    Sweet, bring it on.

i never believed that Horan not playing the last game was to protect her for this one. That was just the conveneient excuse

Brilliant idea, leave your best player on the bench.

If the US loses, will Ellis be pressed on her lineup choices and substitution patterns? There is a lot that doesn't make sense given the heat, the veteran team, etc. Beyond Horan, I would think changes up top. What is the point of a 23 player roster if we won't play most of them in the knockout round. If we win today, will we turn out the same players again on Tuesday against a fresher England team?

As usual, the USWNT has to beat the opponent and overcome their coach. It is sad that this has been true for five years. Probably through the next Olympics too.

Ellis has every right to start whomever she wants. The USA talent is still better and they should still win. But Jill makes it harder. Not just sitting our best player, but locked in tactics that makes the choice between our best player and our second best player.

I continue to have trauma about the national team going with exactly the same 11 for a crucial match on short rest from Couva. Granted, it was the men, but still. Plus, we're benching one of the top midfielders in the world.

On the bright side, I do not think France has ever played against this exact line-up.

I pray Morgan and Pinoe are at 100%

And I pray Ellis uses her subs.

Is it brave or cowardly to start pinoe?

omg I was working away, glanced at clock it was 245. I sucked in so much air in shock I think I changed local barometric pressure. My dog sat up like "what is it, squirrel, lets go" lol

Actually it was a charge to break the siege of Minas Trith and it became a great victory when a shield maiden slew the chief of the Nazgul. Maybe we have fielded 11 such today.

0': Henry kicks the ball straight out of bounds. Good plan for France.

0': First good chance for US, Rapinoe cuts across middl and sets up Ertz for a 23' blast. Well hit, but Bouhaddi isn't too troubled and saves it.
