Maybe some brainstorming on which nations we may see qualify for the 2027 Women's World? Down below you find my projected field as of now per my Top 120 Women's Ranking. I do actually agree with the very most of it. So I think this could be close to the field we see in 2027. Projected per my ranking to qualify for ⚽🌐 2027 Women's World Cup as of 07/08/2025⚽🇪🇺 UEFA (11) - 🇪🇦🇩🇪🏴🇫🇷🇸🇪🇮🇹🇳🇱🇳🇴🇩🇰🇵🇱🇦🇹CONCACAF (4) - 🇺🇲🇨🇦🇲🇽🇯🇲⚽🌎 CONMEBOL (3) - 🇧🇷🇨🇴🇦🇷⚽🌏 AFC (6) - 🇯🇵🇦🇺🇰🇵🇨🇳🇰🇷🇵🇭⚽🌍 CAF (4) - 🇳🇬🇿🇦🇲🇦🇨🇲⚽🌏 OFC (1) - 🇳🇿⚽🌐 IC Playoffs (3) - 🇨🇭🇻🇪🇺🇾👇— International Football Guru ⚽🇩🇪🗺️🌏 (@sk_football1907) August 7, 2025 🤔 Standby (5) - 🇫🇮🇨🇱🇵🇦🇻🇳🇬🇭⚽ Competitors/In with a shot to qualify (9) - 🇮🇸🇧🇪🇵🇹🏴🇭🇹🇵🇾🇹🇼🇨🇮🇿🇲🚨 Next update after next iteration of the ⚽♀️ Top 120 Women's Ranking— International Football Guru ⚽🇩🇪🗺️🌏 (@sk_football1907) August 7, 2025
The intercontinental playoffs will contain 10 teams from all confederations. My early assessment: 12th UEFA team and a combo of either 2x CONMEBOL or 1x CONMEBOL + 1x CONCACAF or 2x CONCACAF are favoured by me to qualify from there. I mean I put it as likely to happen. I give an outside chance for the 5th CAF team but ranking wise I don't favour it. But you never know who will end up needing the playoffs....
Teams that realistically could debut in 2027: UEFA Poland, Austria, Finland, Iceland, Belgium CONMEBOL Venezuela, Uruguay, Paraguay It's very hard to see a debutant emerge from a confederation not called UEFA or CONMEBOL. Some nations would have to speed up progress or just hope to cause the odd upset.

Interesting to see how this goes. Sports rights are moving to so many services now. I'll just use my fire stick haha
Strange that 19 months from the competition no branding or schedule has been released. By way of comparison, both were released at events held last month for the men's EURO 2028.

Hedvig Lindahl has been invited by Fifa to a legends match in Rio de Janeiro ahead of the 2027 World Cup. But she is boycotting the match in protest against Fifa and its decision to award a peace prize to US President Donald Trump. https://www.svt.se/sport/fotboll/hedvig-lindahl-bojkottar-fifas-legendarmatch Good job Hedvig

Telewizja Polska (TVP) - Polish Televison (public service broadcaster) has secured the rights to broadcast all matches of the 2027 Women’s World Cup
Why do they show 3 Polish players for advertising that they show all World Cup matches? Shouldn't they show players from teams that are expected to qualify (eg Spain,, USA, Brazil)?
Well, they’ve naturally picked the team that’s going to win it ... provided teams like Belgium or Portugal don’t sink us first in the qualifying play-offs
Uh…. is there some sort of men’s World Cup this year? Never heard of it. Though, I vividly remember the 1994 men’s WC where my dad took me and my sister to matches in sweltering heat of the old Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan, including getting fried at the Rose Bowl and Stanford Stadium on the 4th of July.
I really hope that is a typo because otherwise we have VERY advanced technology for the year 1026. Or all, or at least most, of the history I sort of learned in highschool was actually pre-history and the dark ages are still to come. BTW: I watch both the women's and men's side of the soccer spectrum as i REALLY enjoy soccer but I am finding it harder to watch the men's side because it has become so fast. or my brain has slowed, that I miss a lot of the action because it has already passed on before my brain process it and soon my "buffer" gets full. When watching the men's game I sometimes feel like the little boy in the back of the class in a farside cartoon who raises his hand and asks the teacher, "Mrs, Brown, can I go home now, my brain is full." As I age, and the game gets faster, I may have to relegate myself to watching womwn's soccer or to, when I watch the men, only watching the games recorded so I can watch at half speed. The one redeming factor of that would be that the anouncers would be also at half speed so I could again watch spanish broadcasts. The anouncers in Spanish often get so fast in their delivery that I cannot keep up. I cannot think in Spanish so everything I hear I must translate and I just can't keep up. Maybe half speed woul be ideal for that.
I am sorry but I do not get it. 1026 is not a binary number and it translates to 010000000010 In binary. I guess I just may be too old or too dense to get it. But todays matches start soon, within the hour, so I do not need to get it and my afternoon and night is pretty much set.
Also deals with IPv4 addresses, which are are the root, binary numbers. 0/1/2/4/8/16/32/64/128/256/512/1024 - And I realized I mistyped and should have put 1024. But using 1024 (or 1026) was being hyperbolic.
FIFA have announced that squad size will be from a minimum of 23 to a maximum of 26 players at the 2027 WWC.
It is a good thing but only for big teams, for those who have no depth, it is more or less taking passengers to the tournament. But in the term of players health it is much better to have more options for the coach and being able to rotate more. I need to check how players were used by squad in the MWC in Qatar when they had 26 for the first time. Because I don't think players 24,25,26 are likely to get games.
But the teams don't have to name 26 players. Sure, it does benefit countries with larger player pools, but it also exposes more players to an international tournament. That is a good thing. As for those last players getting time, in 2027, maybe not. But in 2031 they definitely will. Saying that, I would not be surprised to see teams like the US, England, Spain, and Japan, at least, bring 26 players and play 24 of them (assuming the 2 back up keepers don't get time) even in 2027.
