For the past month this has been the poll question that has been on the wusa.com site: "What WUSA Off-Season change has been the biggest surprise?" Here are the results so far: The appointment of Omid Namazi as Spirit Head Coach 33% The multiple trades that sent Sherill Kester from San Diego to New York and then back to San Diego 27% The resignation of Courage coach Marcia McDermott 40% For me the resignation of McDermott is the off-season change that has been the biggest surprise by far, but now that Marcia McDermott is back as the assistant GM of the Courage, I wouldn't even put the appointment of Omid Namazi in my top three. IMO the recent return of McDermott to the Courage has been the second biggest surprise and the resignation of Jerome Ramsey comes in third. Another big surprise is the fact that more than two months after McDermott resigned, the Courage still have not signed a new coach.
You are right. We are definitely the most surprising team in the off-season. Wonder if our new coach will be another surprise. Should be announced this week (or next?) according to a reference in the Lucks article.
