5. QPR -- 7 GP, 3-3-1, +8 GD, 12 Points 10. Wrexham -- 6 GP, 3-1-2, +1 GD, 10 Points ------ 16 September Racecourse Ground ------ Wrexham is off to a good start, sitting on 10 points with one game in hand on everyone in front of them (only Wrexham and Blackpool have played 6). Graham Laws is the referee. He has worked two 1st Division and two 3rd Division games this season, handing out 8 yellows and no reds. Last season he worked our 4-0 away win at Mansfield and our 0-3 away loss at Notts County (we were shown one less yellow than our opposition in both games). He worked an 0-1 QPR away loss to Oldham the year before. He worked a home win for Wrexham last year and a home loss for them the year before. Bircham and Thorpe will miss out again for Rangers (but both expect to play against Luton). Marien Ifura will travel with the team, giving Olly the most options possible for selection given our injuries. http://www.qpr.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~424878,00.html
is there any place that will have audio for those of us that can't have qpr world on their work computers??? Or will anyone be doing play by play for us??? How about if I say please???
I can do updates. Lineup for the R's: ..........just as I was typing......... Goal Rangers! Marcus Bean scores! Wrexham 0-1 QPR More in a minute....
Thank you for the updates...does QPR score in the opening minutes of every game this season? It seems like it.
Rangers Lineup is the same as on Saturday: Day, Rowlands, Gnohere, Shittu, Padula, Ainsworth, Palmer, Bean, McLeod, Furlong, and Gallen. Bean's goal was in the sixth minute. No cards yet either way.
Furlong and Wrexham's Carey got into a bit of a scrape in the 16th minute, with the referee issuing a yellow to each. McLeod then went in hard on Edwards and has been booked in the 18th minute. QPR got away with a bit of sloppy play after the card, with Wrexham shooting over the goal. The commentators say we're basically playing a 4-5-1, with Furlong up top and Gallen dropping back a bit. Rowlands was just pushing forward from the back and earned us a corner as his cross/shot was deflected out of bounds. The corner bounced around a bit, coming near a goal, but Ainsworth's header was cleared off the line. Wrexham 0-1 QPR
Each team has had a dangerous moment in the box in the last minute or two, but neither keeper was forced to make a save. Recently, McLeod lost his marker and went into the box with the ball, but was unable to complete a cross. The stats on the Match Console still have them leading in possession about 60/40, which seams abour right, but we've had the more dangerous chances. Again, just as Wrexham starts moving the ball toward the box, Padula stepped in and broke it up. They're possessing the ball some, but we're not letting them into too many dangerous spots. After that, Rangers took possession, with Gallen, Ainsworth and McLeod moving quickly into dangerous position with Rowlands in support. McLeod was unable to finish in what the commentators thought was a poor effort. More back and forth in the midfield as I write. Even with Wrexham getting more possession, we seem the more dangerous.
Elsewhere in the Second Division as we head toward halftime: Brighton 1:0 Chesterfield Bristol City 1:0 Tranmere Luton 1:0 Port Vale Grimsby 1:0 Swindon Notts County 1:1 Rushden Peterborough 1:1 Plymouth Argyle Stockport 0:1 Hartlepool Wycombe 0:2 Colchester all other matches are 0:0 ----------- About 6 minutes until the half. Richard Edghill is warming up, but there's no indication of any injury to Rowlands or Padula.
Rangers keep pressing forward, earning another corner. I think we've got a 5-2 edge on corners. The Match Console now has us evening up the possession, Wrexham 48-52 QPR. They lead with 11 free kicks to 5. We have one offside (Furlong) to none for them. We have three shots, two on target. They have two shots, none on target. Three minutes of added time to be played.
Yellow card in added time on Wrexham's Edwards for dissent after he threw the ball away after disagreeing with the call of a foul on him against Ainsworth. Halftime Wrexham 0-1 QPR
Halftime stats from the Match Live Console: ----------- WRX-QPR Goal Attempts 2-3 On Target 0-2 Offside 0-1 Corners 3-5 Free kicks 13-6 Yellow Cards 2-2 Red Cards 0-0 Possession 48-52 Goals: Wrexham - none QPR - Bean (7th minute) Yellow Cards: Wrexham - Carey (16), Edwards (45+2) QPR - Furlong (16), McLeod (18)
Rangers start the second half with Richard Edghill taking the place of Furlong. Gallen has moved up to the top in the 4-5-1. Rowlands has moved up to Gallen's place in the attacking cental mid role. Edghill has taken over for Rowlands at right back. The commentators thought it might be precautionary since Furlong already has a card and had a few words with the referee otherwise. In addition, given how many matches we have (several mid-week matches coming up), it makes sense to rest our oldest (and, this year, most dangerous) forward. We can't afford for him to pick up a red, that's for sure. Culkin, Sabin, Pacquette, and Oli are the remaining subs for Rangers.
Gallen set up Rowlands just now, but the pass was onto his left foot. Rowlands was able to get a shot on goal, forcing a save, but couldn't get it past the keeper. The R's are holding most of the possession in the early moments of the second half. Come on, you R's!
Wrexham just came on a quick counter, forcing Day to leave his goal. He deflected it with his feet, but this was probably the most dangerous chance for Wrexham in quite awhile. R's back in possession.
Gallen picked up a yellow card in the 56th minute. Commentators say it must be for dissent, because they saw nothing in the action to call for it. Hector Sam enters at forward for Wrexham in place of Armand One a couple of minutes later.
Gnohere picks up a yellow card, too (65th minute). That's four in the book today for Rangers. Commentators say it was a good call. A few minutes later (68th), Eric Sabin came on for Gareth Ainsworth. It looks like Sabin goes up top, Gallen drops back to central attacking midfield, and Rowlands moves over to the right side of midfield. Wrexham followed that up less than a minute later with their best chance of the day, but the R's snuffed it out.
McLeod picked up a second yellow and the resulting red for a lunging tackle. The commentator thinks he probably didn't make contact, but it was an ugly, unnecessary challenge. R's are down to 10 men and will have to get through another 20 minutes or so. Gino Padula is bleeding from the face and is down receiving treatment. The only other subs are keeper Culkin and offensive minded Pacquette and Oli. If one of those comes in, Rowlands would have to go back to right back with Edghill going to the left. As of now, Padula is still in. It looks like we're now in a 4-4-1 with Gallen on the left, Rowlands on the right, and Bean/Palmer in the center of the midfield.
Wrexham's Whitley did pick up a yellow in the 68th minute (foul on Gino) -- forgot to mention that. Craig Morgan and Shaun Holmes came in a double substitution for Wrexham with just over 10 minutes of normal time to go. That's it for Wrexham's subs. The R's still have one.
They're coming at us now. Jones just missed wide when he had Day one on one. A minute later, Edwards took a shot that Day was just able to tip onto the bar and over as he was going the other way. Finally, we were able to get the ball out and Sabin was said to be doing a good job holding it up there for a bit. It's getting dangerous for the R's. About 5 minutes left.
Bournemouth just scored against Sheffield Wednesday in injury time to take a 1:0 lead. If they can hang on, that would be a good result for the R's. We're now at the end of normal time. SIX MINUTES of added time have been announced. Damn! Gino was down for a couple of minutes, but it seems a bit much. Eric Sabin just got booked in the 91st minute.
We're holding possession for a minute here. Sabin just got a shot on goal, but the keeper saved it. Back to Wrexham, coming into R's half. They lose it through and it's out for a Rangers goal kick. Day doesn't seem interesting in kicking it too quickly. Shittu brings it down, it goes to Gallen, but foul on R's. Quick counter by Wrexham ends up in the hands of Day. Three minutes to go.
Day punches one out, Shittu kicks one out, then we get a goal kick. 2 minutes left to play. Wrexham ball, they keep coming, 90 seconds to go, Wrexham is banging it around in the box, Edghill kicks it out, Wrexham throws in, then Padula is able to shepherd the ball out, R's throw in. Padula throws it in, Wrexham knocks it out, R's throw in again. 45 seconds left.
GOAL RANGERS!!! As Wrexham attacks, Rowlands steals it just inside the QPR half, jukes one guy, goes by another, and then seals the victory by slipping the ball past the keeper into the net. IT'S FINAL!!! Wrexham 0-2 QPR
Good away win. Thanks for the updates Atouk. I'm off to my inspection and now in a much better mood. Thanks again for the updates.
