Watching the C-Bus v Revs match at the moment and I have to say I am really impressed with the state of the field at Gillette stadium. I was expecting football lines galore, but the field looks fantastic. Props to the grounds crew. You can still see a hint of lines, but just barely. It actually looks like a serious soccer match on a well groomed field. Refreshing!
Would one of you guys who's actually watching this on TV care to start a pxp thread for those of us who are screwed by cable systems that won't carry the shootout package?
The announcer is good too. I'm really enjoying watching this match. I would pbp but my computer and tv are in different rooms.
Click on "Listen Live" on the left menu at the webpage below to listen to the game. http://www.eagle1039.com/main.asp And if you miss Mr. "Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory", here's your chance to hear Jack filling in for Burgess as the Crew play-by-play guy.
The grounds crew has next to nothing to do with this besides the cut the lawn. The warm weather has allowed the grass to grow and the Pats have had two straight away games. Andy
Looks like a nice day in New England. Looks like a sizeable crowd as well, but sometimes it's hard to gauge with large stadiums and TV angles. Crowd is vocal either way. Game is being played at a real uptempo pace. Both teams are playing attacking oriented attractive play. Both teams seem to be in the same form at the moment, namely they both started slowly this season, but they are playing out of their minds now.
Yeah, but thats one hell of a mowing job they did. Let's just say that after months of pointyball lines it was nice to see a clean field for a Sunday playoff game.
Was there a Football game going on near by,because 11,367 for a sunday afternoon game in Boston is not impressive at all, I thought 25k might show up. We also got screwed over at ABC with women,s "golf"thing.
You must have been watching a Football game. Lots of time outs and after 4 hours the score is 36 to 17, and bunch of fat players on the side line with oxygen tanks.
You don't know what good soccer can. You sound like an educated Football fan in a bar scratching his ass!!!!! about the only thing that was boring about that game was you.
Did you see the Crew v Revolution game? As an impartial observer (kind of rooting for the Revs) I thought that match was dreadful.
Man I thought that it was a really interesting game. You could tell both teams were really laying it out there. With a little better finishing there could have easily been 4-5 goals.
Yea I have to disagree Lastort. There was good possesion on the ball, and both sides were pushing the ball up quickly. There was no kickball in this game. I felt it was well played for the most part. Defensively, and offensively.
It was an okay game. But I am kind of glad ABC didn't cover this gaem. a 0 - 0 tie on national TV is not going to do MLS any favors.
Adin Brown is awesome. McBride blew it. He was all alone on the far post and he got a decent cross but he misjudged it, went after it with his head and it hit his thigh. He should have done better.
MikeLastort2 didn't like it, but I think MikeLastort would have enjoyed it Not a spectalur game. A hard fought match between two evenly matched teams. I liked it. Glad I have the shootout and got to watch the game.
I thought it was a very hard-fought game---both teams evenly matched, yes, the stadium looked great, the crowd sounded like they were into it (was announced attendance of about 11K)--I enjoyed it because the Rev's pulled out a tie after going down to 10 men in the last 10 mins and overtime--even had some chances to win during that time...this will be a great series, I'm thinking! The score isn't what makes a boring game, to me, necessarily, it's part of it, obviously, but this game had two teams trying to be very aggressive, but at the same time trying to avoid a loss at all costs; chances cleared off the line by a header, great goalie play, there was a lot to like in this match, I say.
Have to disagree with this. Thought it was a great game...albeit with no goals. Otherwise it had everything.
I thought it was a great game, too. Really wide open at times, at other times good passing, a few really Great tackles. Rusty Pierce and Cunnilin...Cunningham going at it was great. Jay Heaps hits the post then gets his shot headed off the line. It's probably one of the most wide open 0-0 games I've ever seen. I can't believe I'm going to be on the front row for Wednesday's game, right on the "50 yard line".
Have to say I really enjoyed the game. Despite the lack of a goal, both teams had several chances, and they were attacking non-stop. Bravo.
no its not in boston and its a pain in the ass to get to with the traffic..and once you get there it is one of the most expensive things around....$15 to park and they yell at you for kicking a ball around and will try to take your ball away......
le razor may look impressive on tv, but it definately makes up for its asthetic beauty by possesing precisely nothing in the way of atmosphere.
The Razor is impressive but its to big for soccer. I likes RFK stadium because of the bowl that keeps in sound. The stadium is a little more open but again I have been to a Patriots game in it and it was loud as ever for a pre season game.
