Yay or Nay? If you want him on the team what position should he play? Would we have to change our formation?
I'd take him, if only because he's from the area and should have come up with us in the first place. Also, I think the Dom's influence would be good for the kid.
He'd have to work hard to not only win over Dom, but also the fans. Not exactly the most popular player 'round these parts.
The thread title deserves -rep, but besides that, Brek Shea is alright. He sucks at Dallas but would no doubt be epic with the Dynamo. I say yay.
I still don't see FCD trading him. Here's a good set of quotes from Schellas on Brek: Big D Soccer: More From Schellas Hyndman On Brek Shea I don't see why you'd move him now. He's probably at his lowest value point. He'll eventually come back just fine and perform well enough to get on the radar for European clubs. You move him when his value is up again. If he were available, sure, I'd take him here. But I also don't see parting with enough value to make that trade happen if FCD is even remotely rational about what they should be able to get for him.
As others have said, for a reasonable price I'll take him in a heartbeat. He's got great pace and the technical skills, and Dom could beat some sense into him.
like we really care what they have to say. i propose we derail this thread with crappy title with more supporter's group talk!
1) Of course 2) Will never happen - he will not be traded within MLS, ever. a) He is 22, been capped at the national level; and despite recent challenges has an immense upside to either be a beast in MLS or sold off to Europe. There is no combination of trades MLS teams can/will make that can offset that potential. b) coaching staff will be fired before he goes.
It was reported that if he was traded to Houston, he would not be forced to wear the FC Dallas kit while on the pitch. Not sure if you knew about that detail.
I think he is actually from College Station so he would be closer to hom eif he moved here so he may be amenable to a trade. It could never happen though. FCD has too much invested in him and expect to make more of a return than letting him go for peanuts.
The Hunt family apparently loves Schellas but since that finals appearance, it hasn't gone great up there for him. Now the injury to Ferriera hurt last year but besides the Shea issues Daniel Hernandez - an SMU guy - went off on twitter last month and is unhappy so you seem to have some locker room issues there. I think the financial upside to selling Shea to Europe outweighs any trade value Dallas could get back, unless they retained a portion of his sell-on price. Plus the FCD president is an old MLS HQ guy so he knows the long term financial benefit to selling him.
