Of course both. However, realistically it is almost impossible. I guess I would rather have them win EPL, b/c i would love to see for Terry and Lampard to hold the trophy. Also, b/c i hate the Gunners and ManU.

But for recognition in Europe and the world, I think it is better for Chelsea to win the CL.

    Your opinion guys?

Why? We have the depth. Considering how close we came last year, I hardly think its impossible.

So close and yet so far. I think almost impossible b/c of the schedule and the difficulty of leagues. EPL is not Portuguese league, and it is not as simple as it was for Porto (i don't mean simple b/c it was easy). I don;t know CL history all that well, so my question to you is, "How many english teams have won both CL and EPL? I think only ManU. in 1999, but correct me if i'm wrong (not being sarcastic). Also, how many teams in all leagues have won their league as well as CL or Champions Cup or UEFA cup?

Both is a very real possibility, and I would love nothing less, but if I had to choose one, it would the EPL.

There's some Gooners I'd like to see cry. ;)

Valencia did it last year. Milan won the CL and their domestic cup the year before, and the team they beat in the final (Juve) did win the league.
It only stands to reason that the team that wins the CL is going to be good domestically. Likely to finish in the top 3, at worst.

Personally i would take the title above all else.
Being the best team in the land is, without a doubt, the ultimate for all fans of any club.Seeing your team crowned champions of the league means you were the best team in football that year.
In todays game of global television coverage the sheen of winning your domestic league is somewhat displaced by the mega money and fanfare of the Champions league, however, for the many thousands of fans that pack the stadium each and every week that don't have the chance to go - and those that simply don't care about it - the European Cups will always be second on the list.

I couldn't even beging to guess how many European teams have won that particular double, but in England i do know that Liverpool have done it twice if i'm not mistaken.

In '84, i know for sure that they did, as it was the 'year of the scouser' as it was (not) lovingly known outside of Merseyside, as Everton and Liverpool completed a sweep of all domestic trophies and 'pool also won the European Cup.
I think one of their great late 70's sides also did it as well.

I agree with Nice, i believe it will be hard to do so this year, but far from impossible. We have a strong team and quality indepth after the starting 11 and bench.

Obviously its hard. But this is after taking into account that the CL is almost ALWAYS won by teams in the top 3 of their league domestically (and that includes the losing side in the final). I think Real 5 years ago were the exception, having finished fifth. So it stands to reason that any team wins the CL has an almost 1 in 3 likelihood in winning their league as well. (Or 1 in 4). All things considered, those aren't horrible odds. This is, of course, taking into account the obvious fact that both trophies are really difficult to win.

I would prefer the league. Its the centennary season, and European dominance starts at home. That being said, I see no reason why we couldn't win both.

Man, if we win both, it would be incredible. I honestly believe it'd be the start of an era that would be one of the greatest football dynasties of all time.

Porto, obviously. Bayern did as well. Valencia just did it with the UEFA cup. Juve came within a penalty shootout.

PL not even close. CL is a crapshoot. PL is a real test. JM could win the CL with Porto last year, but how do you think he would have done in the PL with that team? Chelsea is going to have a hard time winning anything this year given how young and unfamiliar with each other they are. Luckily, Manchester United seems to be imploding and Arsenal seem a tad inconsistent. Chelsea needs to win everything they can right now (the loss at Man City was a disaster) because after Christmas they won't be getting any gifts from Arsenal or ManU.

Speaking as a red blooded gunner, and presuming we were in the exact situation Chelsea is now. That is, top of the league having not won it in an AGE....

Given choice of the Premiership OR the Chamions League id take the Pemiership everytime. But then I tend to view the EPL as the most prestigious in the world, and that may be just a symptom of being British, or perhaps of being slightly unhinged...our overseas friends may feel differently, and thats understandable.

    I'd prefer the EPL title!
JUVE hopefully will take the UCL.

But Chelsea are easily my fave team in England (mostly due to the Italian brigade of the mid90's to present, The Zolas, Casiraghis, Dalla Bonas and Di Matteos, not to mention Cuducini, who in my opinion is the best backup goalie in the world, maybe with only Abbiati at Milan for company!)

But more importantly. I want the duopoly of Manchester United and Arsenal broken and Chelsea would be the perferct team team for me personally to do so!

It would almost be as good a feeling to me as seeing JUVE lift another Scudetto, i at no cost wanna see a Gunner or Red Devil lifting the championship this season.

It is difficult but hardly impossible.
I can see teams with a deep squad being very much capable of doing so and of course if domestic championship is easy enough!

Monaco showed a team which could fight quite well on a single front but battling on both with such a limited squad proved their undoing it both!

JUVE, AC, Barca, Valencia, Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal, Bayern and Madrid represent teams with enough firepower to lift both their domestic and a UCL trophy this year!

The league for sure. Then we can stick it to everyone else. I have no doubt though with the age of our team that both will happen in the next 5 years. I wouldn't be surprised to see each happen more than one in that time. Maybe that's wishful thinking but I don't think it's impossible.

I think you can get both, you guys have a fantastic starting eleven not to mention the subs, you also have a lot of experienced players despite their age and probably more important you have a coach that knows what is needed to get the trophies.
In the EPL i think you will do just fine as long you don´t fall asleep in the last minutes of games... in the CL it takes only a bad night to be out, so you need to be more carefull, but certainly this year at this moment only Barcelona and Milan stand at your level.

    at home finally!
I'm gonna play devil's advocate here and say I prefer the UCL title, it just does seem like a greater achievement to triumph the top teams in Europe as opossed to humilliating the likes of Fulham, WBA or Porthsmouth.

If you Win in Europe you're the real deal, let the Gooners deceive themselves into thinking they are the best just because the lift the domestic trophy.

that certainly is ture mate but it's better imo to win it as champions of your country, rather than the second place team.it just means more when you turely are the best at home and abroad.

dont get me wrong if we did only win the champions league this year id be over the moon,no question's about it,however it would be much sweeter overall,as undisputed champions of europe.so for me personally it's gotta be the league first.

Thats certainly true, can't disagree with any of it.

However, Chelsea Football Club is based in England, playing in the English League each and every week, in front of English crowds (well, mostly anyway).
Being champions of Europe is not viewed with the respect that the title winners get.
Having the respect of Europe is nice - being able to rub it in to smug opposing fans is even nicer ;)

I think last year's Porto would be a top 4 team in the EPL, although winning would be nearly impossibly because Arsenal was playing to his best. Last year I would bet 2nd place slightly beind Arsenal. This year's Porto would be lucky to finish top 10...

I think Porto last year was better than what Chelsea is at the moment, but Porto was in top form after winning UEFA cup while I think Chelsea is only heating up, they still have to improve a lot to be at their top form. They are playing together for only 1/3 of a season and surely they will improve.
