should something happen to Chivas USA business wise or should it rebrand, who would be in favour of an aztecs vs galaxy classico

I honestly believe it could become one of the best rivalries in the world.

Chivas USA is Mickey Mouse. Makes our league look kiddie. The fact that they actually use Guadalajara's seal in LA is mind boggling idiocy.

Having a relationship/sharing the same owners with Chivas is fine, but be your own entity. And it's just stupid to limit your latino fanbase to solely Chivas supporters. Why do you have to create an extension of Chivas? Why can't you create another powerhouse that can be respected all over? They don't even go out and sign latino players, let alone mexicans. The brand of this team is useless. It actually hinders the teams exceptance from fans. This team has not been excepted by the latino fans across the city. They need to reasses their business/marketing/brand strategy.

They should rebrand to CD Los Angeles or CD Azteca Los Angeles. Los Angeles Aztecs would be much better then Chivas USA.

I did not state a fact, I stated an opinion.

And my basis for my opinions is that the Aztecs would cater to all Mexican fans rather than just Chivas fans, which would give the team more exposure and a greater fan base. Also, like NYFC said, it would have its own identity rather than being a branch of a larger club and thus people might take the team more seriously.

I say move them to San Diego. They'd do well whether they rebrand or keep the same name.

We don't want them and they don't want us. Keep them in LA.

it wont happen but I'd love to see chivas called Aztecas in LA and represent every mexican american soccer fan and not only Chivas Guadalajara fans.

At first I was shocked to see this thread was not started by a Galaxy supporter.

Then I noticed it was started by a Toronto FC supporter.

Leave the Aztecs where they belong. In the dustbin on NASL history.

Club Deportivo Los Angeles with Chivas as a nickname is fine but really Chivas USA is not "mickey mouse".

No more than Red Bull New York.

I think the price for the naming rights to LA Aztecs was too pricy or too much legal issues for MLS ala the Cosmos...

...besides we already got Austin Aztex in USL-1 now so I'm happy enough with that:D

Well then they will likely change it to CD Los Angeles or something. I seriously don't see them changing it to the the failed Club America affiliated Aztecs. I mean come on.

This thread is a pointless waste of 1s and 0s.

It's like asking: "Who thinks Abraham Lincoln would have invented a time machine had he not been shot?"

I guess you don't remember the the city trying to lure them here. I want a team that is true to SD.

I'd love for Chivas to be rebranded. My major qualm is the "USA" thing. It's always sounded dumb to me. I wouldn't mind if they were called LA Chivas, even...... Just anything to identify them with LA.

The big problem with Chivas is and will continue to be the fact that they share a stadium with the Galaxy. If they could simply build a stadium elsewhere in the metro area (Pomona?), they'd be able to distinguish themselves more from the Galaxy and build a separate, stronger fan base. Any issues about the name or branding should be secondary to that (and IMHO not a big deal either way).

Ironically... Nineteen-Ninety Never called and wants its "[place year here] called, it wants its [fill as needed] back," phrase.
