2007 the europe had way more hair styles for characters from what i have heard pes in amercia they dumb the ai a tiny bit 2008 i would expect the same with the new team vison ai from what i have heard from people in euro that this years pes is pos 2008 and that fifa for the 360 is the best i'm a pes fan boy but i converted to fifa 08 so far this year i hear the online play is so laggy the ball teleports and the game play is the same but shots seem slower and harder and the ai is more cheating then ever
PES has never been good on online play. How does the AI cheat more? I did not know it cheated in the first place, what do you mean? I've been waiting for PES to come out in March but what has made you switch to FIFA 08? I tend to think that PES is more realistic the way the players move, fight for the ball, passes are more difficult to make. When I use to play FIFA (06 was the last I bought) it was easy I could beat the AI 8-0 shoot from anywhere, shoot turned around, threw passes were easy. Has all this changed? Any good info would be cool.
I was pro-PES till I played Fifa 08 on the 360. Believe me, it takes some getting used to, but it’s a giant step forward for the Fifa series, IMO. Aside from the usual obvious licenses and sheer amount of teams, gameplay was improved dramatically and resembles actual football now. It’s much slower-paced than PES, and difficult to score (at least it is for me), resulting in realistic 1-0, 2-1 games (seems like there were a lot of 5-3 games in PES). The slow play issue seems to have bothered some people, and to be honest, the controls aren’t quite up to snuff yet. For instance, there’s ridiculous momentum and occasional lag in changing players, meaning it’s often difficult to switch to the nearest defender and clear a loose ball in the box (many of the defenders stand still and ball-watch, making defending crosses a hopeful situation). With momentum, sometimes you can slide tackle much later than you wanted, always resulting in a card or penalty. There are still some things to iron out, but it’s a really fluid game and IMO very realistic. PES still plays smoother and is more responsive. I LOVE the end-to-end camera and hope this is explored more in the next versions. It’s difficult to get used to at first, particularly judging north and south distances, but really captures the width in football. Seeing passing lanes opening up and hitting them is really enjoyable. You can’t custom zoom, so the only problem is when your opponent dribbles to the corner and whips in a cross, and you can’t see what’s happening in the box! (My main beef with opponent’s play is too much side to side dribbling and not enough passing, but PES seems to have that too) Other than that, my issues with the game are more tedious. For instance, it’s much easier and more fun to edit players and teams in PES, where you have no limits, more options and it’s just a faster process overall. Furthermore, I can’t seem to play my custom rosters in league play! That’s the main annoyance issue with it, and customizing PES is really fun. I’ll be renting before buying PES this year because I think Euro 2008 will be an enjoyable game and FIFA09 will be great. I
I myself switched this year from PES to FIFA 08 only because I was tired of the generic player names and team names of the PES world. However, I have to say, I bought FIFA 08 for the PSP and I am a bit disappointed. -They do not give you the ability to create an international tournament using national teams so you can't play a world cup. -The buttons at times have conflicting functionality. For example, when you're on Defense you can hold the LEFT button to call another defender to the opponent with the ball. However, once you gain posession of the ball the LEFT button also serves as a "first touch" so you automatically "first touch" the ball away from you and wind up losing it again. -There's no way to compare two players' specs to see which is better -You can't pause a game and eyeball your squad roster to quickly see who's exhausted and needs to be subbed. You have to scroll through each player and see what their stamina level is. (This can be somewhat tedious and slow as you wait for the PSP to load the next player's stats) There is no perfect game. Every year PES and FIFA take one step forward and one step back. If PES would just pony up the dough to get the rights for Team Names and Player Names then that would be the perfect game. That would blow FIFA out of the water.
I think which one you choose is a matter of personal preference; it's just that I like both equally and feel Fifa has made a big step forward this year. I'd recommend at least renting Fifa while you wait for PES, as it's a fun game. It's really a month away from new PES? I always remember them coming out in Feb, but turns out your right. Damn
I don't think there will be any difference this year. The Euro version of PES2008 has the same hairstyles as last years WEPES2007. I'm not sure if they will change some of the licensing (PUMA to Adidas shoes) like they did last year. The game play is like the last veersion of J-League. The editing has been paired down too, which pissed alot of editors off and caused them to quit making option files.
depends on the platform. the higher end consoles are supposed to be limited, while the ps2 version is supposed to have the most features, which is why i plan on getting it for ps2.
Your're wrong. The PS2's editing has definetly been paired down alot from last year. I have both versions. There is less space for badges, the inability to change nationalitys on most players, no real boot editing and just like WE2007 the special hairstyles have almost all been removed from PES2008 on PS2. These are major changes for anyone who wants to do any extensive editing and some very good editors aren't bothering with the newest version. I've heard the next gen version sucks, but I've never played it.
if you haven't played the other one, how can you confirm i'm wrong? i wasn't comparing 2007 to 2008, i was comparing ps2 to ps3 and xbox 360. anyways, this is from what i have read.
I said your wrong about the PS2 version. It does not depend on the platform like you said. Editing for the NextGen version of PES2008 is limited and the PS2version has had very important editing features removed. If you want the most features, get WEPES2007 or better yet PES6 for PC (lots of mods). Peace man.
yes, and i'm not saying that the ps2 version is a super complete version either. just that the other platforms are even more limited.
I have the XBOX 360 system, and am counting down the days until PES 08 is released here in the States. My main question is, in the new PES 08 for 360, are you able to move players from different teams to make rosters current? In the 07 version, that is the one thing I don't like about it. Like, I couldn't move Tevez and Hargreaves from West Ham and Bayern, to Manchester United..
I hope hope hope that they made changes to the rosters to make sure they are up to par after the jan transfer window, and also hope they worked out the bugs and the game play of the 2008 version in europe. Anyone know if they are? I know our WE:2007 vs. PES6 had all up to date licensed kits at the time, and all the players transfered for the jan transfer window when we got the game in 07'.
