Worst. Own Goal. Ever. (R) Villa just scored the lord of all own goals. Mellberg with a throw in about 20 out, back to Enckelmanm, who is judged to get a small piece of it while whiffing on it...as it rolled into his own net. Wow.
Hey Buff: I managed not to see anything that resembles a final result, but I'm taping this one to watch tonight: could you put that this is the Birmingham/Villa match in the title? It would be appreciated. By me at least.
I had a double hernia operation this morning and hoped to watch a riveting derby. That goal was one of the worst things that could have happened to me. I even had to call the missus in for a look. "The most bizzare moment in the history of the Premiership"
Freakin' hilarious. BC supportors are some serious bostards though. Wish Enkelmann had clocked that ******************er that got in his face.
I had to have my glasses check to see if what I was saw happened. That was sick. Enckelmanm, Mellberg and Alpay will have nightmares over this match. BTW, memo to B-City fans: PLEASE GET OFF/STAY AWAY FROM THE PITCH !!!!!!!!!!! You are making yourself as foolish as that own goal (and Cardiff City fans last season) and giving English football a bad name.
Damn, they still on? Villa Park in March should be a fun one. Although the night is still far from over...
Hey, after so many years (in 2nd division), City really relish on beating Villa. Villa would want a payback after that defeat. I can image what Mr. Taylor would say after the match, especially about the referee and officials.
I wholeheartedly agree! In my opinion when some wanker slaps your face you have every right to flat kick dudes a$$! I dont care if its a pat or however you want to describe it, any individual who invades the pitch and makes any aggressive move towards a player needs to go down. I do believe a riot may have ensued but the FA should not punish a player for kicking a fans a$$ in this situation.
What a delightfully fun match to watch. I'm still not 100% sure that Enkelman touched the ball before it went in the net. If he didn't touch it, then it isn't a goal. too late for that now. I thought the guy that ran up to him and did the wanking motion was hilarious. Its one thing celebrating on the pitch. which i think is fine in certain circumstances, like what they see as the biggest home match of the season. Its not like they were violent to the Villa players, and no one was out there to do anything "bad" to anyone else. If anything i think behaviour like that could be good for the game. This is nothing like the match at Cardiff, which i'll let you know, I was at. completely different.
hahaha villa are so crap they deserved what they got this match is one of the biggest derbies and villa will be down after tonight and they deserved it well done blues
Entering the field of play is a criminal offence, as well it should be. The potential for violence is all too real in such cicumstances. Hopefully Birmingham City will get punished by the FA for these pitch incusions.
I know a lot of people on here are sensitive but it's not that big a deal. Birmingham will be fined and that'll be that. It's the police who have done a poor job. Personally I think it just adds that much more excitment to the game. But I realize I'm in the minority on that.
Small Heath v The Vile Fans spilling on the pitch in passionate derbies is likely to happen (I knew it would happen in this particular match if the Blosers scored), it happend in three Albion matches last year (v Coventry, Wolves and Palace, where over 20,000 are estimated to have filled the pitch). It also happend in the East Anglican derby on Sunday. In these situations it was done in the right spirit, a celebration (including the Bloser's first goal) rather than goading the opposition, but the fan(s) who went up to Enkleman should (and will no doubt) be banned from football grounds.
Is it really the Police? Ive often wondered how many England football matches were controlled by the police and how many are controlled by private security. It seems that the corners have real "Bobbies" but the ground is surrounded by fat blokes who wanted to watch free football and wear a yellow coat.
If they had been Millwall fans everybody would have called for the club to be shut down. O' Well that's life.
Yeah, because they would have put Enckleman in the hospital and sung a few racist chants about Vassel.
Good point on it not being a goal. If he didn't touch it, it wasn't a goal. What is the restart? Corner? That's a new bizarre one that's going into all the refereeing exams.
I think that the restart, had Enklemann not touched it, would've been a Villa throw in from the same place it occured. But the camara angle from the back shows that the spin of the ball changes slightly, so it did look like it came off his foot. That, and his reaction. here's the Guardian story on the other Worst. Own Goals. Ever. http://football.guardian.co.uk/comment/story/0,9753,793827,00.html
Shut up yank, what do you know about pitch invasions and stuff like that. Really sad to see a yank telling European fans what to do. On the other hand it's pretty funny actually.
