Probably would have a lot more if we were in the playoffs so you can thank your lucky stars I am more focussed on the Portuguese liga these days otherwise I'd come up with ideas to move Nordecke to the parking lot and a presentation to all of Columbus using a color chart to explain the difference between Mustard Yellow and Gold
Im a huge crew fan and I enjoy the color set we have and the crest but if it was to be updated I think it would be awesome to have the founded year in it and maybe LH worked into somehow. That would be cool, more modern but yet respecting tradition at the same time dont you think?
Actually the wavy lines are the same "wavy lines" aka the sun's rays from the San Jose city flag. So it's actually a very apt thing to have on the logo. Actually I think our new logo is a real step up from the 2000-2007 version now that the word Earthquakes is much more readable especially from distance. As for changing the name, that's never going to happen thankfully. And for the guy who said earthquakes are a "lame" natural disaster. Try living through one. There is no more powerful natural disaster on this planet. And while they're devastating they're also what our region is known for, and frankly I'm proud of that.
No I don't wish an Earthquake would destroy my home. But the name is also not lame. It's the name of natures most powerful force. Seems a very apt name to me. Better than some of the more unimaginative or completely unfathomable names like FC Dallas and Real Salt Lake respectively.
I'll give you Real Salt Lake. FC Dallas will be justified fully the day we take back the name officially.
I like the idea of the founding year to be on logo somewhere like FC Dallas has it: and the Rapids: I kind of think it would be neat for all the 'originals' to have the year on their crest.
biased post is bias. San Jose Earthquakes is your idea of an imaginative name?? come on now.. it sounds like every other American cliche spin for a team. I'm not saying FC Dallas is imaginative or great, but I'm happy with it because its not an american bastardized twist on something thats been around for years. I guess some people may or may not like that, but I'll take traditionally overplayed than a cookie cutter name that could easily be mixed up with every other american team.
Difference is our "cookie cutter" name as you call it has 35 years of history tied to it. As does Seattle's new name. Which is why both are eligible for the new "Heritage Cup".
Personally, I like most of the current MLS logos. In my opinion, the modern shield logos are the best: Rapids, Sounders, Dynamo, FC Dallas, DC United, Earthquakes, Toronto FC, and even (and especially) the Crew. Lower on the crests is the Galaxy. It's a bit simplistic now, but an improvement over what it replaced. I've also liked the Chicago Fire crest. The Wizards logo is a bit blah, but without the rainbow ball, it's by far an improvement. The original Wiz logo was the worst in history. What was Lamar Hunt smoking when he signed off on it? You can't really rate Chivas or Red Bull New York. Neither one is original. Real Salt Lake is a bit ugly. And then the Revs... that's not even a crest.
