http://njmg.typepad.com/sbi/2007/09/red-bulls-vs-ch.html "No Jozy Altidore today. Altidore is out with the same calf injury from the Under-20 World Cup. He isn't even dressed for the match." I fear this calf injury may limit his chances even more so for getting selected, am I wrong in thinking this?
I heard that too. Waited for a mention of it from the announcers while watching the 2nd half of the game tonight, nothing.
NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! what are we going to do!? without jozy we are nothing.... at least now he has an excuse for not doing anything...
Or maybe it's a ploy to fool us all in thinking that Altidore is hurt, and bam here is playing against Brazil its a possibility. Anyways I'm hoping to see the top US team on the field, and I hope Eddie Johnson plays a freaking awesome game against Brazil.
Like everyone else, I want to see Atltidore get a call...and I was disappointed he didn't get a shot against Sweden. But, in this case, I have to think trotting out a new guy with even a little bit a an injury to play against a team that's basically gonna kick our ass with or without him seems like an unnecessary risk. Of course, if he plays in MLS at the same time, that argument goes out the window. But, a young player's health and fitness is much more important than rushing him out for a friendly.
i just hope eddie gets in a meaningful touch during the game... let's have some realistic expectations.
hell, I just hope Eddie looks like he gives two toots about being on the field. a meaningful touch would be gravy.
Here's a prediction: USA w/ Jozy Altidore 4-2 win over Brazil USA w/o Jozy Altidore 4-0 Loss to Brazil
Damn! That unexpected injury costed my fantasy league team dearly. I had him captain of the team. I also have Freeman who didn't play for some reason, on my team. And to make matters worse, I almost always have JP Angel on my team, but this time I elected DeRosario instead. And to top it off Mathis who I almost always have on my team almost scored but didn't. At least I picked up double figures in points for him.
