Wow I just found out. This is huge, I can't believe they are postponing this tournament. I mean, I realize the current situation esp in that part of the world, but I have to disagree with this. They really should not have postponed this tournament.

Not a good time to be in that region of the world I suppose - especially for the US and British teams. I would imagine that even the players families would have reservations about sending their kids there. Key word - kids. Parental control.

Anyway, I wondered why the tournaments seem to usually be in the middle east anyway. Perhaps as an evaluation of the ability to hold the tournaments? But realistically - the UAE? Not necessarily a big time footballing place.

Perhaps move the tournament to Europe. I wouldn't cancel it though.

This was a good decision. I doubt the UAE will be attacked, but it's still the right decision. But as a DCU fan I'm not thrilled about the prospect of losing Convey and Santino later in the season.

Not surprising attitude considering your rather historically relevant BS handle, General Rommel.

Unnecessary. Impeachment's good enough, really, and much more constitutional.

Dude, seriously. You probably should lay off of that. Consider it a friendly warning. You've posted this countless times in other football threads.

    Listen up, little fella...

    Scorpio:

If you want to complain about Bush and talk politics, take it to the politics forum. You can spout all of the useless nonsense that you've been doing in various threads about the issue (or non-issue) there. Of course that means that others will jump in and probably tear what little theory you have to shreds - I imagine that's why you're going about it in such a cowardly way in football threads instead of others that would welcome the "discussion".

I don't really care what your angle is, don't do it in the football forums because there is a forum made for politics. Surely that's not too difficult to understand, is it? Let me know if you need a link to direct you there. There is no place for that here.

    ### MODERATOR'S NOTE ###

Scorpio - Ursula already asked you to stop trolling. And what do you do? You post a flame in response.

Frankly, I should not have to ask a fellow moderator to stop trolling. And I should never have to ask a fellow moderator not to flame.

    ... that said ...

This was clearly the right decision by FIFA. It's unfortunate that I won't be able to see these games as I was looking forward to them. But, I just don't see how you can have a major soccer tournament in the Middle East at this time.

And I don't think you can underestimate the security risk that the American and British teams would be taking. So, yeah, this sucks but - to be honest - I think we'd all be up in arms if they decided to hold the tournament despite the impending war. FIFA was damned either way.
