The Giants franchise has not won the World Series since 1954. The Angels, of course, have never before played in the Fall Classic in over 40 years of existence.

This causes two trivia questions to jump to mind.

First, when was the last World Series between two teams both of whom had either not won the World Series in over 30 years or had existed for over 30 years without winning the Series? The answer will surprise you.

Second, who can identify the last World Series played by two teams who had never won a World Series?

    Pretty impressive.

Now here's a tougher one. When was the last World Series before 1995 between two teams both of whom had either not won the World Series in over 30 years or had existed for over 30 years without winning the Series? That answer is probably even more of a surprise.

Good guess; not it. Twins won one four years earlier, in 1987.

If at first you don't succeed....

    Nice going. That's it.

Dr. Wankler, the Orioles won in '66, and the Mets did not exist for thirty years before winning (it just felt like thirty years for their fans because they lost so much before '69).

Besides '95 and '75, only one other World Series has occurred between two teams both of whom had either not won the World Series in over 30 years or had existed for over 30 years without winning the Series.

    Can anyone identify it?

I'm sorry, maybe I didn't understand the question, but the Braves and Indians have existed since 1871 (continuously) and 1891 (interupted in 1900) respectively. The Braves won the World Series in 1914 and 1957, the Indians in 1948. So they'd both gone more than thirty years without a title, right?

Yes, and that's why it was the correct answer.

I've got one...not that I know the answer though...maybe someone else would know...Dusty Baker and Mike Scoscia were teammates with the Dodgers, and now are facing each other as opposing managers with different teams...Has this ever happened before? If so when?

Last time it happened was in 2000 when the Yanks played the Mets. Torre and Valentine were teamates. This will be the 5th time that ex teamates manage against each other.

    You got it.

You also had a good question. I'm stumped, but weren't Herzog and the '85 Royals manager teammates?

Who are the other three opposing manager pairs? Are Stengel and Durocher among them?

Got another one...who was the only player thrown out stealing to end a World Series?
