The Angels had a great Series, but I feel awful that the greatest baseball player in in 80 years who had one of the best World Series in history still doesn't have a ring. I'm just thankful that baseball fans are smart enough to not judge players by the number of championships. Last year we saw two players take an otherwise totally average team to a World Championship. This year we saw one man come very close to making an average team champions. Unbelievable. Congratulations Angels!
That gives the state of California (wouldn't have mattered who won the series) three championships in three leagues right now. NBA, MLB, and the most coveted, MLS.
unfortunately Loftom made the last out...I dreamt that Barry A$$hole would...other than that..PERFECT! Congrats to my boy Scioscia and his Angels! Next year my Dodgers keep the title in California, mark it down
I really was hoping to see Bonds get a ring, cause it looks like Baker and Kent are on their way out so that was probab;y Bonds last best chance, (Especially if the Fregosi as next manager rumors are true.) Nonetheless coingrats to the Angels and their fans.
I can't edit my post anyomore so here comes another. Why the hell does Dusty Baker sit Reggie Sanders and put in Tom Goodwin with two guys on base and the Giants down by 3. Yes Sanders was in a bit of a slump, but when I saw Goodwin coming on in, I almost choked on my beer. I don't understand that call at all. I would rather have Sanders in the middle of a 0-20 slump at the plate at that point than Tom Goodwin. And oh yeah, the only good thing about baseball season being over is that maybe Fox can audition replacements for McCarver. That guy is terrible.
...and Shinjo over Dunston?? He made a few lacklustre choices last night. The decision to start Livan screwed us twice this series. Obviously, I'm not going to say he should never have started him, but as it stands: two starts, two terrible performances. Rueter proved last night that he deserved the start.
I seriously see Livan going down the same path as Jose Lima. They both had a couple really good seasons, but then tailed off. Granted Livan had his success more in the postseason and has a ring for it, but he just wasn't as good this year as most my Phillies staff, and thats saying alot. He now speaks with even more bravado than usual (Like Lima) but his body language just shows a total lack of confidence. Its been that way with him for most the year, I hope I am wrong and he can get it turned around. But man, he was awful. I was hoping to see Shinjo at some point this series, but to throw him in for his first WS atbat against Rodriguez who was blowing mostly everyone away this whole month was asking alot. It stinks, cause I love Baker as a manager, but he made some odd decisions last night.
