World Cup may get its 1st female referee

    Anyone hear the results yet?? My questions is was she the one that failed as well at the youth championship in june in holland. And if so what is FRANCE doing. or better yet what are they doing in the first place sending a women

    She was the one who failed the fitness test at the WYC.

    Apparently the two Spaniards who failed the test are tied to Mejuto Gonzalez. So ridiculously, it's bye bye to Manuel - one of the best referees in the WC panel. :mad:

    You honestly think FIFA is going to stick to its guns on this one?

    I think there's a lot of manuevering and mixing and matching, yet.

    I'd be shocked if Mejuto Gonzalez isn't at the World Cup. Not only does he deserve it personally, but the committee chairman is a fellow Spaniard. They'll find two ARs for him.

    Well you'd think, and hope so. Especially as LMC is in the Development Group, and afaik, his ARs passed. Surely they can be used by MMG? FIFA continually states it wants the best referees to do the games, so if they do kick out MMG because of his ARs, it's surely going back on that statement.

    Well the statement that FIFA wants the best refs at the WC is laughable. If they really meant that, they wouldn't have such a geographically diverse group of referees.
