To me there's a difference. This WC is 10 days longer than the previous one. And 16 teams/416 players have 3 extra high intensity matches, while another 32 teams/832 players have 1 extra match. That's not nothing.
I think it would benefit, but just so we're clear, we're essentially talking about 3 leagues, right? Italy, Spain, England. There's a few other leagues with 20-team top flights, but they don't include alot of WC-calibre players.
On the flip side Colombia is one of the healthiest teams heading into the tournament. I hope and pray that continues.
I thought the last Euros had a lot of dramatic moments in bad games, but maybe I watched too much of my England.
Abde Ezzalzouli (Morocco) Status: Questionable for Group stage Morocco could be without one of its top attacking weapons after Ezzalzouli picked up a knee injury in the team's final tune-up match before the World Cup. The winger's availability for the early stages of the tournament remains uncertain as he continues to be evaluated. Why it matters: Ezzalzouli was one of Morocco's most productive attackers at club level this season. Losing his ability to stretch defenses and create chances would be a setback for a side looking to build on its recent World Cup success.
Martinez is Argentina's biggest concern Emiliano Martínez’s fractured finger is the main concern for Argentina before their first 2026 World Cup match, though the camp expects a final MRI to clear him.
Christian Pulisic (United States) The co-hosts’ star player shone in the first-half of USA’s 4-1 win against Paraguay in Los Angeles but was withdrawn by Mauricio Pochettino at half-time due to a calf problem. However, the knock is not thought to be serious. "He received a kick in his calf and he felt tight at the end of the first half,” Pochettino said. “We didn't want to take any risks. It was difficult for him to walk, but we hope that it is not a big issue and he can be ready for the next one."
Alphonso Davies is expected to be available for Thursday’s World Cup match against Qatar. The Bayern Munich star missed the 1-1 draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina while recovering from a hamstring injury, but coach Jesse Marsch says Davies is progressing well and should be ready to return. A huge boost for Canada ahead of a crucial Group B clash.
