Tomorrow there will be a World Cup Draw party at Claddagh Irish Pub in the Brewery District. Those of you that are CSN members probably received an email yesterday with the details but I'll go ahead and post it for those that aren't on the list. Free appetizers, Danny O'Rourke & Eric Brunner, prize giveaways (XBox360, FIFA 10 Game, Crew swag), and the unveiling of the new world cup ball. It's not in the email message but the Crew will be presenting each of the supporters groups with one of the new Adidas World Cup balls. I believe they will also have a drawing to give one away for those in attendance. So head on down for afternoon or take a late lunch!
Re: World Cup Draw Party at Claddagh Irish Pub 10/04 I got Craig to promise to let me use one of the outlets behind the bar so I can "work from home" tomorrow. There's free Wi-Fi for anyone else that may need to look productive tomorrow.
Check out this WC draw simulator, if you haven't already. You can pick each team and place them in the pot click by click, or just run an automated draw really quick. Even if you don't speak Spanish, you should be able to figure it out. http://www.record.com.mx/sorteoMundial/sorteoMundial.php
Youch. I just ran an "automatic" and it put the US in Group G with Brasil, Portugal, and Ivory Coast. DO-OVER! EDIT: CHRIST! I just did it manually and it put the US in Group C with Brasil, Nigeria, and Serbia.
Mike-- Would you please fax that directly to South Africa ASAP and inform them that is our final group preference. Include a copy of a check for $1 billion as well.
I have been informed that the music from the simulator will be blasting at full volume during the draw today at Claddagh.
I keep expecting someone to break in singing in a high voice: "In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight." In terms of the draw, I think Italy, Germany, and England would all be interesting seeds to draw. And Argentina also. What makes up a good G.o.D? Pot 1: Anyone but South Africa Pot 2: USA, Mexico, Australia Pot 3: Pretty much anyone except Algeria, with African teams worse due to more fans. Pot 4: France, Portugal, + maybe Serbia or Denmark My final try: Argentina USA Ghana Denmark
