Pretty tough group and the matches will be quite tough

Germany is favoured to go through but 2nd place will be tough, between you guys and us (Ghana). Serbia is also a good team.

    We shall see:)

Apart from group G, we have the hardest task to get into the 2nd round.

Id actually be happy if we only got a couple of draws from our matches. I cant see us winning at all.

    Well, we're boned.

Should be some good matches though, I'm psyched.

Crap! This is a pretty bad draw. Serbia is strong right now and Germany is so-so.

Hopefully we can get a draw against the Serbs and Germans. I was also rooting for Ghana as I liked them last world cup. We sneak a win against Germany and we're in!

Make no mistake, we're going to need a pretty decent upset in order to get out of this group - or even avoid finishing bottom. Ghana and Serbia are very good, and Germany always brings the goods to major tournaments (they haven't lost a group game at a WC since 1986).

The suckiest thing about the fact that we won't make it out of our group is that if we did, we'd have almost certainly met either England or the USA in R16. Playing either of those teams in the second half of a World Cup would have been a fantastic experience.

This group draw is very "sucky"

    GROUP A
    South Africa
    Mexico
    Uruguay
    France

    GROUP B
    Argentina
    Greece
    South Korea
    Nigeria

    GROUP C
    England
    USA
    Algeria
    Slovenia

    GROUP D
    Germany
    Australia
    Serbia
    Ghana

    GROUP E
    Netherlands
    Denmark
    Japan
    Cameroon

    GROUP F
    Italy
    Paraguay
    New Zealand
    Slovakia

    GROUP G
    Brazil
    North Korea
    Ivory Coast
    Portugal

    GROUP H
    Spain
    Switzerland
    Honduras
    Chile

I think these teams will qualify for the R16:

    France (group winner)
    Mexico
    South Korea (group winner)
    Argentina
    England (group winner)
    USA
    Serbia (group winner)
    Germany
    Netherlands (group winner)
    Denmark
    Italy (group winner)
    Slovakia
    Brazil (group winner)
    Ivory Coast
    Spain (group winner)
    Chile

    What's so hard about it?

If we play more attacking football we could probably win it. I feel more sorry for Nippon and North Korea. They got slaughtered.

I hope the Socceroos don't go in with the attitude you guys are

No doubt it's tough but that could be a good thing for us!!!

Our last WC draw was hardly easy.

We've beaten Ghana 4 out of 6 times we've faced them and seem to go ok against African teams.

Serbia are quality but are they any better than Croatia in the last WC??

    Germany are the real worries.

I think if we can get results against Ghana and Serbia we have every chance of getting through our group and who knows what happens after that. It may well open up for us.

To be fair Croatia eliminated England from qualifying for Euro 2008 after they were eliminated by Australia in 2006. Obviously they are worse currently but Croatia of 06 = Serbia of 10.

some more optimism would be nice guys! it will be a tough group but its definitely not a forgone conclusion! a solid result against serbia and germany and a win over ghana could be enough

we have a good record against african teams that could give us an edge over ghana...we might not have much of a physical advantage over any of the teams only slightly if at all and i expect a lot of huff and puff type games but given a little luck we can get second

all teams are strong so it wouldn't surprise me at all if every team got at least 1 win so a lot of it will depend on how the other teams handle eachother as well as our own results but its more than possible

I was giving our group some very deep thought this afternoon and came to the following conclusion:

We can get 5 points. We can get 5 points if we really pull our shit together and get right down to perfecting our style of play.

Ghana and Germany are going to be the most difficult opponents in our group and I really think a draw against each of them would be the perfect result. If we manage a win against either one I'd say we are definitely in good view of 2nd place. Serbia I believe we have to get 3 points, no way about it. Everybody will be looking to pick their bones and if we can only manage a draw against them when Germany and Ghana have picked up 3 points, our chances of qualifying will have gone from slim to none.

Well obviously, if he posted it.

Besides, qualifying past a team doesn't necessarily mean you have to beat them when you play them.

We got a really tough draw. But if you wanna be the best, you've gotta beat the best......... (Not that we're going to be the best though) LOL

I think if we're really lucky we could sneak a draw against Germany, but i'm expecting a loss in this match. If we can win 1 & draw 1 of our remaining matches with Ghana & Serbia, we might sneak through. 4 points is a realistic goal i think, 5 or more would be nice though. :D

Time to ditch it. Its a frucked up language. If you think Ghana and Nigeria are not going to make it to the second round, then you are as good as a dead kangaroo. :D
