Landycakes did the US (and us + Man U) a favor by breaking Mr. Cole's ankle literally and figuratively.

    ;)

    It had to be said.

I want the US and France to do well.

I really don't care about any team failing except for Italy and Portugal. Both those teams are full of cheating scumbags.

I'd like to see New Zealand do well, in addition to Slovenia.

I don't think people underestimate the players, but the team deserves to be discounted somewhat. They barely qualified. At times during qualifying they were horrible. They lost to Bolivia, granted it was away in altitude, but they've played at altitude before. In fact, Argentina with maradona won a world cup at altitude.

You say "if they're organized" you wouldn't bet against messi. If the team is organized is a big if. Organization was lacking throughout qualifying. The AFA hired someone with a poor coaching track record (and poor puts it lightly). I don't know why one can expect the federation who hired him and stuck with him in spite overwhelming evidence that he's not the guy to get it right. More than anything, we've just learned how stubborn the AFA can be.

Argentines for a while have been complaining about how their players don't perform for their country the way they play for their clubs. Messi being one of the guys targeted. Which is a situation occurring elsewhere as well (e.g. Ivory Coast).

I hope they get it right because they have some great players, but i'm not expecting anything special.
