Nice shot from Mbokazi from nearly 40 yards and still hard enough that the keeper couldn’t grab it.

I had to switch from Telemundo because the storm’s messing with the antenna feed, and Landon Donavon is making me regret it. Can he not talk please.

Thought both Guti and TLB played well, not flawless, during first half. Second should be interesting.

Oh man, Guti almost had himself a highlight goal there in the first minute of the second half

Draws a red and the Telemundo announcers are lavishing him with “muy bien”s.

Mexico does need that insurance goal now, especially up a player. Last thing they need is to get burned on a counter and have it cost them two points.

I had to do a double take on the name of the guy who got the red card.

Pete (honestly thought he saw a second H there)

Judging by the whistles, Mexican fans getting annoyed at the amount of possession South Africa is enjoying while down a man...

    Pete (can't really blame them)

Likely a result of him carrying a yellow. Aside from that, I think he earned himself another start.

I cannot access this article so I cannot comment on the specifics of what it states.

The request for dedicated traffic lane must be "reasonable" and we do it just like we do for other dignitaries. On Chicago, it would be pretty easy to do (but would still suck).

I quoted the language from the contract above.

I’m always conflicted on rooting for CONCACAF teams in the WC when it doesn’t affect the US. As much as I want CONCACAF to do well, I just can’t root for Mexico. Great country, but that team and much of the fan base are thoroughly unlikable. Glad Guti got a run out. Wild that he’s good enough to start for Mexico in the World Cup, but can’t make the US C-team. I don’t know what that says about anything.

This isn’t just for foreign dignitaries, it’s anyone they deem a VIP. It also is not something that is done for free it costs money (likely overtime), and is disruptive. It’s absolutely something that we had a right to push back on.

...Mexican drops to the ground and clutches his knee.

Mbokazi continuing the tradition of brutal clean challenges. It's like Dirty Leeds without the dirt....

I don’t think it was that he “couldn’t” make the c team, mexico has way more depth at attacking mid, just our coaching staff didn’t have the vision for him.

I did not say it was for foreign dignitaries. Please do not argue against things I did not say.

    He is what I wrote:
The request for dedicated traffic lane must be "reasonable" and we do it just like we do for other dignitaries

See post #70 in this very thread for the actual language.

Of course, it costs money and is disruptive. I never said otherwise and thought my comment "it would still suck" sufficed.

Once again, the request must be reasonable under the circumstance. Host cities can and should push back against unreasonable requests.
