I know I’ve heard it all a millions times but like the article I only ever hear snippets of how things fail. I’m genuinely curious to know what the long term ripple effects are for the cities that do big things. Not everything is always counted in dollars and cents.
Not really questioning the strict veracity of story. More about the motives/intent/slant of the NYT in general. Or am I the one with TDS ( Times Derangement Syndrome)? Better luck in remainder of your flight.
It's entirely possible that I was mistaken in the exact details of what Bill Archer had posted. For instance, it's possible that I may have misremembered "setting aside" a traffic lane as "constructing". So, in Mr. Archer's defense, please don't attribute my faulty memory as misrepresentations by him at the time (pretty sure the FIFA negotiations weren't public domain in real time). In my defense, this was an effort to recall Archer's reports from over a decade ago, and without the benefit of his contemporaneous blogs on Bigsoccer (I tried to find them before my previous posts, they're long gone).

So, the FIFA "Peace Prize" did not happen. FIFA have not rented offices in Trump Tower. The quotes from the FIFA President did not happen. So "TDS" means discussing observable and publicly known facts, but perhaps in a manner that is to the liking of a certain person and his "followers." Got it. Obviously there was a lease, a FIFA Peace Prize and suckup comments by FIFA. My concern is lack of objectivity by individuals and by media. Your posting is confusing me (more than usual). The office space article by CBS, an acknowledged left-leaning news source, was relatively positive and supplied a somewhat different point of view but, more importantly, more facts. Why did you include it? Far too often, the underlying message is “ don’t confuse me with facts, my mind is made up!” Your mention of Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize is almost hilarious because his award and Trump’s FIFA one were both solely political in nature and not based upon anything they did.
Either you know why I included the other links and are being disingenuous or you are easily confused. You claimed the article was from the NYT so, regardless of the facts stated, the article is biased and "TDS." I gave other examples to please you, including from a very pro-Trump site (talk about "TDS" They are deranged in their support) and the newest pro-Trump Network. It is a clear conflict of interest for the President to financially benefit from official duties and this clearly qualifies as such. I did not "mention" the Nobel Prize. While I was not in favor of President Obama being awarded the Nobel "just" for winning the election (although I do not think it was overtly political, but in recognition of his achievement of being the first black president and the advancement in American race relations that seemed to reflect, sadly the racists are still with us and more emboldened than in 2008), there is NO comparison between that at the completely artificial FIFA Peace Prize. To even begin to compare the two is deranged. Now, we ARE moving away from the World Cup and into other areas, so I will not comment further.
Your response, in the wrong location, is a prime example illustrating my concerns. If there was any financial benefit to Trump, it was only a relatively small amount and a pittance to him. Yet, some people want to make a big deal about it and ignore the vast sums collected by the Biden family and the even vaster sums collected by Pelosi and members of ( both parties) in Congress. Michelle Obama has made numerous disparaging and racist remarks over many years. Barack has never contradicted her views (to my knowledge) and was not noted for actually improving relations between the races. Many people , including me, dislike/ detest some of Trump’s personal traits but that does not justify TDS.
When has she ever said anything racist? It's not impossible but it would still be all over Fox News if she had.

I don't doubt that someone can come up with "a" definition of "racist" that they could put on MO, or anyone else for that matter, but using the rational definition from Merriam-Webster, show us a quote of MO being racist.

I gave a respected for centuries, standard issue source of definition. I did not dictate a definition, I provided an example of a reasonable definition. You, on the other hand, refuse or are not comfortable providing a definition of "racist" for your claim and/or provide an example from which you made your, from lack of support, baseless claim. If you believe something enough to post it you might want to back it up in some form or fashion involving critical thinking and then the illustration of such.
