Sorry, this is a poor argument. Michael Reese site would have been redevolped and we would have added thousands of units of affordable housing. We missed out on a lot.
Wait, I don't know why. I remember being extremely annoyed that CHICAGO did not get one of the original MLS teams, and I can't recall why that happened. Please tell. I am torn on the red line extension - I love more CTA lines, but yeah I can think of other routes or additions I might do first. Well I hope it rocks. And no WC is Chicago completely stinks. '94 here was great. And I have to believe that since we already have the infrastructure and the stadium the city would have to have made money hosting games. I never could figure out how Rahm didn't see that. But what do I know... Sending the world to KC and not Chicago is a shame too. Sigh.
Consider it reparations after decades of neglect. If it works or not is not my business and not the business of anyone other than those who live there. The city has a responsibility to the people who live down there, too. Whitey has had ALL of the improvements on the North side. The flyover, the renovation of so many Red Line stations, expansion of the Brown Line stations to accommodate 8 car trains; just endless upgrades while poor brown people on the West Side still have slow zones and 30 minute gaps in service.
I highly suggest watching pregame stuff on Spanish tv, so much stuff is cut out by Fox due to commercials.
100% and if you’re already watching the pregame stuff in Spanish, stick with it for the game itself. No Landon Donovan or Alexi Lalas at any point makes it a much better watch.

I think the best thing about the weather extension will hopefully be all sorts of new development filling and along it over the next 30 years. Also, to be fair the entire green line going west was about a decade ago rebuilt and lot of that goes through some pretty low income neighborhoods. awesome job by the Canadians to tie it up!
