Lmao bro i can’t stop thinking about #23 on mexico dude had the ball 50 times and didn’t even try to score— :p (@UnkleDell) July 7, 2026
I think what is frustrating to me the most is the script for history was right there! English gave us the last 30 minutes They took out Kane We were a man up Hell, a drunk Vega would’ve been a better sub for Gallardo at that point. Hormiga had double the goals of Gimenez and the fat dude from pumas. I hope the best for Rafa, but even he cant outrun the old ways of our football inner circle . Raul Jimenez will tag along until he breaks the record etc. I doubt he stops calling up Gallardo right away. I’m sorry to say but we can do without Edson from this point on. Eh.
Edson is a super tall and strong destroyer who can also play centerback who's only 28 and plays in Europe. He's not going anywhere.
Sure, but we don't really have that archetype and as long as we don't find anyone better at that, he'll be in consideration, at least as a backup. And remember he's coming from a bad, injury-riddled season. Wouldn't be surprised if Rafa wants to see if he can recover his best version.
Let’s not shit on Edson. The team upfront is what lacks. We need strikers and a better mid. Someone other than Mora to try to create and combine with other players. Tactically Vasco fcked up. We needed to play conservative and go for it in the second half when the altitude could’ve played a part. England isn’t Ecuador. When we didn’t score early and they got one in on us it was over. The team is just is not built to come back. England wanted an open game.
Memote was a bit baffling, I thought maybe Chino and Vega could’ve created something. We were predictable at the end. Hail Mary crosses.
I shit on Vega but he could have been a good sub since he can shoot outside the box. Luis Chavez would have also been useful Brian was on the pitch and dude didn’t shoot on goal once! I wonder if this was something Vasco instructed or WTF? Seemed they were content trying to dribble the ball up to the goal or send crosses in blindly
Ask yourself a simple question. In a country of 120 plus millions do you actually think these guys are the very best?. There are probably many more that do not have contacts on enoug to pay scouts or don't know someone who knows someone working for televisa. We will never know. There are very few Salcido type guys that really came from nothing and made it.
Out of all the wasteful spending why not waste money on youth sports. Subsidize programs that will keep kids occupied and off the streets and you also widen your net and maximize all the talent that’s available. Im experiencing this with my kid and baseball. We can’t afford multiple private coaches on top of having him in a travel ball team. I know a number of kids whose parents are essentially retired and practice with their kids relentlessly. Pitching coach, batting coach, fielding coach. It’s hard to keep up.
It’s a hustle and a money making scheme. The sooner you leave it the better off you’ll be. They sell you on future payoffs. College. Big leagues. Whatever. Just play for fun and whatever comes your son’s way will come.
Speaking of substance Gallardo needs to be slowly weeded out. FMF need to find fast wingers and make a few FBs. Remember England Doubled the Winger on the Mexican Right side but left Konsa alon against Gallardo cause everyone knew he didnt have the speed or tricks to beat Konsa. That's on Piojo for getting the wrong subs and match up. JQ should have stayed on to cause he'll down that wing. Your a man up, you can play a guy like that at FB to create the advantage
The lazy answer is strength and conditioning... If that's all it takes then the US would've been WC champs already
Nah bro, it’s because all the LeBron’s, Brady’s, Kobe’s, Jeter’s, etc. are playing other sports. If those guys played fútbol instead then the Nads would always be world champs
We def don’t have enough volume in terms of prospects that are complete FBs. We have been stuck with ok players at best that have glaring weaknesses either in physicality or technique on the ball. Everyone was begging for Mateo which I agree is better offensively but I think it’s clear that on the defensive side Gallardo was still the sure choice. It was painful to watch him send crosses those last few mins. I can dream but I don’t think it’s outside the realm of possibility to have us produce more Carlos Salcido type full backs more often than every 20 years.
We need more players that are starters at top Champions League clubs. That is the difference between us and the top 8 teams. not just "euro" guys. I'll take a ligamx champ player over a greece/belgium/turkey league player.
