Eh. I am not looking to weigh-in that much, but both goals came after the red card… Oh man. The Yanks can score. I hope Gregg has given some phenomenal PowerPoint presentations on this game (and his system allows for the scoring of goals).
Yeah. Agreed. I have gotten to that point now. In the moment, the “oh no” was real. I want our boys fighting for every damn ball. First to the ball, boys. I feel a channeling of Bruce Arena in the locker room at the 2002 WC.
Other than possession stats, Iran was not only better than Wales, but they were also either even or better than the US for the most part.
Counterpoint: a win and you’re in against Iran is one of the best positions you could possibly be in at a World Cup.
I've never rooted against a host nation in group play...till this year. I'm bitter enough, I was upset that they got a goal.
Was wondering why Ecuador had marathon as a jersey sponsor. Upon research found Marathon Sports is the jersey manufacturer.
Yeah, I'm somewhat confused by all the gloom in here. Iran beating Wales by less than four goals seems to me like the best possible result. We're guarenteed to control our own destiny in the final match regardless of the result this afternoon. Four points in the last two games will see us through in any circumstance. Two points would be enough if Wales fail to beat England. Same for a loss today and a win on Tuesday, but Wales would possibly also need to be chasing goal differential.
Enner Valencia possibly out of the WC now and Gakpo also limping The teams are obviously targeting the opposing teams main players
I really enjoyed watching Poland bring the Saudi team back to reality, although I must admit that they played admirably. I'll be both shocked and pissed if they make it out of group play. These next two games should be entertaining. I had the good fortune to get up just in time to see Degenek come into the game this morning. Like some here I have been pulling for both Ghana and the Socceroos out of club loyalty. Speaking of which, and since I didn't see it mentioned here (although I simply may have missed it), the look on Ronaldo's face as the Ghanaian player mimicked his goal celebration was good for a laugh.
