I haven't seen Davies much on television, I've heard him too often on SiriusXM FC. In those instances he seems to fall into the the Twellman (maybe a bit of Lalas) style of not really saying anything insightful, but just playing with the volume and intonation knobs to make it sound like he's offering something insightful. I know it's not a problem unique to soccer media, but so many of these former players just work so hard to build there persona, or post playing brand, that it takes precedence over actual insight. To one of your other points, I think that's what makes Maurice Edu stand out. He actually just seems like he's there to talk about soccer and the matches. It's refreshing.
Just heard on the Fox broadcast that if Tom Brady ever convinced him to play American football that Virgil Van Disney would be the perfect Tight End. I don't know why people are complaining about Fox.
Landon reminds me a lot of my middle brother. They are really close in age, and they sound a bit alike. The way he says things and what he says about the game.
Yes, this is exactly my point. You've met American sports fans, right? For as much as I value your analysis and input and most of your opinions I don't think I'll ever understand what you actually enjoy. But I agree about Stu.
Is a "Rules Analyst" is common in US Sports coverage? Just a minor quibble that I keep thinking, it should be a "Laws Analyst"
Yes, very. One of NBC's analysts was the official in charge of the Bottlegate game, so whenever he comes on, I laugh.
I'm absolutely stunned. (As handbags happening at the full time whistle.) Not just that the Dutch came back from two goals down against Argentina in the quarterfinals of the World Cup. But to have that free kick, from that spot, in that situation, and have the unabashed ONIONS to not only attempt that play, but have it work? You've gotta be kidding.
Why are the officials allowing all the fighting and doing nothing ? Does VAR not watch these incidents ?
Netherlands keeper was unemployed two years ago and considered hanging the gloves up. His family wanted him to become a police officer. Can he continue the magic? Amazing game to watch.
