Jamaica have been absolutely horrible in these qualifiers. I had hoped they would become a legit team in concacaf with all of their new additions, but they might have even become worse.

Well, that was the problem: a whole bunch of new recruits and little time for them to mesh.

If Hall (or his successor) can get them to buy in for the upcoming Concacaf tournaments, they're a real threat for 2026

we will see how dedicated a lot of those guys really are for the cause, and how many just were hoping to be in Qatar.

Some of these guys (Michael Antonio) may be too old for 2026.

I think they thought they could patch together a team and these recruits would be rewarded with a World Cup appearance. It could be a matter of "quick fix" or "long term project" We will see how the project unfolds.

    Jamaica 0-1 Costa Rica
    USA 3-0 Honduras
    El Salvador 0-2 Canada

For the second consecutive game, Canada scored in second half stoppage time to win 2-0. Costa Rica's win ended Canada's chance at qualifying tonight. Jamaica is eliminated, and El Salvador's only hope is a playoff. Mexico vs. Panama is scoreless at halftime. Canada leads second place USA by 4 points. With a win, Mexico will tie USA's points, but Mexico needs to win by 4 to pass USA on goal differential. This set started with four teams battling for three automatic spots and the playoff spot, and ended with Canada almost clinching, and four teams battling for two automatic spots, the playoff spot, and one elimination. Panama will end tonight 1, 2, or 4 points above Costa Rica.

Two 2-0 away victories in Central America without our best player. 3 consecutive shutouts.

    Canada has been amazing.

Um... huddle in everyone, time for a Conca-conference.

Not you @Robert Borden @vancity eagle , you wait outside.

    **whispers**

"What do we do? Central America was supposed to stop them in their tracks!"

"I don't know, they weren't supposed to be this good this fast!"

"Um, quick, what other challenges do we have left...?"

Mexico had a goal taken away by VAR because the ball went out of play first. It was clearly the correct call to keep the game 0-0, and it's in the 51st.

Honduras have good Olympic teams. Would think they can rebuild for next cycle?

Im been pretty vocal about this with Jamaica. Adding a bunch of last second dual citizens and hoping that chemistry will somehow be great was always going to be a fantasy.

It takes time to build chemistry and everyone has to be committed for the jump.

I am still trying to understand what happened? How did the whole program implode so dramatically? I kept thinking surely the results will start to show up eventually even if qualifying wasn’t very realistic but it seems everyone gave up at some point

I honestly don't even know. Everything seems internal. Questionable decisions and tactics by Coito doomed him and then FENAFUTH tried to salvage the WCQs with Bolillo which was an even more terrible idea. Dunno what the future holds

Yeah Concacaf will struggle mightily against the Euro and SA teams

The level has been pretty disappointing, especially from Mexico and USA.

This is the CONCACAF Championship now, we've decided. Like the old days. At least it's more objective than a tournament always played in the US that Keylor Navas routinely fakes injury for.

I kid... But are any USMNT fans worried now? Or quietly confident? That home game against Panama could be like a Gold Cup final if you want to avoid do-or-die in CR on the last matchday

It's a weird thing: I feel much better about our chances in Mexico than in Costa Rica.

That's true. How ironic would it be for the US if they fall to pieces in March but still qualify due to Canada continuing to get points in Central America.

El Salvador beat a full strength Peru in a friendly lol

Nah Mexico has regressed like never before. Most of their players have 0 Champions League experience. They really took a hit by not having their clubs in the Copa Libertadores. USA is inexperienced.

Only Canada is playing well, but they haven't faced a strong team yet...especially a team who dominates possession.

Bolillo is an experienced coach in CONCACAF who took Panama to Russia and still he couldn't do anything to save you guys.
