Just to clarify…Reyna wasn’t just dogging it in practice. He dogged the scrimmage they had, which affected the whole team’s preparation.
I am fine with letting him go as well. I have doubts of his managerial skills, men management and over coaching ability as well. Since the WC will be in the US, they should go find for a top manager. I am sure that US job may be of interest for some.
I hope that you're also gossiping with the parents of the other "stars" about how our team's scrubs are costing our U10 team valuable wins, and that we need to recruit some better players so that we can send those losers to the B team. I know that's what I would be doing.
Yup, agreed. He has reached the peak with this squad, and the upside for them is bigger than for Berhalter.
The last few pages read like the USMNT fan forum. Surprisingly Pulisic's name wasn't even mentioned once!
I thought he comported himself pretty well during the World Cup. After all, a team that turned at one point to a mediocre English Championship player for goals had some limitations.
True, the team lacks talent overall. Having said that, if you have to turn to a mediocre English championship level player, why not using Gio Reyna who is arguably among the top 3 most talented players in the US pool? That is on Berhalter as well.
Except in the equivalent thread in the same amount of time they had about 10 times the number of posts. And a lot worse signal to noise ratio….
It depends....I had a guy from Peru on my Adult team that was the most talented member. I and all of the rest of the members told the PITA to take a hike! YMMV!!
I really don't want to go there.... Can you tell me if they're saying that Hiddink really wants the job!
The Egan/Reyna statement rings much more true to me than Berhalter’s subsequent Twitter. Dude needs to go for four reasons, none of which are individually fatal: 1) he wasn’t mature enough of a coach from the outset and shouldn’t have been hired by his brother and close friend in the first place. 2) exiling of Brooks for not “fitting what we’re trying to do”, Pepi exclusion and consistent tactical rigidity that even can Gaal noted in the presser after R16. 3) going public with something he said was supposed to stay in house. To his benefit and to the detriment of one of his players. 4) responding at all much less via Twitter about this investigation into a 30+ year incident. Be smart enough to at least do it through an attorney/PR person. I can’t say he’s terrible as a coach but I wouldn’t call him good. And he’s been very poor in terms of both PR and building trust with players of late. Strange coincidence: I know one of his neighbors. Who literally runs a PR firm and wrote a book on PR/reputation management. You can’t be poor at one of these two things, average at best at the other and have the resume he does while expecting to keep this gig.
Pepi hasn't been scoring goals anywhere, so I'm okay with that decision. That said, who he picked...ugh.
Much _ _ _ about nuthin! Ps....I think I was the one who mentioned him. PPs...if you're not a Fire fan you shouldn't get upset!
I'd take Freddy as HC. Knows how to take promising youngsters and drag them down into the USSF swamp the way we all know & love. Guess where the USSF prez went to college? Board of Directors Role Member President Cindy Parlow Cone (former national team player and NWSL coach, USSF executive) And married a... In 2007, she married John Cone, a former soccer player and coach
Prior to the team selection, he started 8 consecutive match. 5 goals IIRC during those matches and a couple of the matches he didn’t score were vs superior teams they couldn’t generate chances on. Came off the bench the match before that run and got an assist. He probably scored more goals in the month prior to the team announcement than any player who made the roster. Maybe more than any two players who did.
Meh, if the US aren't even good enough to ********ing beat Wales, they might as well be entertaining with intrigues and spicy infighting. I say they should extend Berhalter for another 8 years.
Or have a Survivor-type reality show in early 2026 to test the tactical skills of 10 coaching prospects. I keed, I keed. We don't actually employ tactics. But it would be fun to watch regardless.
Nah, its gotta be more like a Kardashians-tyoe drama. Or maybe, some iteration of real housewives. After all, ya gotta follow the ratings.
