The coach is gonna turn out to be a train wreck like USA coach Bruce Arena (USA didnt qualify) I hope am wrong !
At least I like how Vahid's teams play defensively, they are well organized: https://theback3.wordpress.com/2017...-strong-tactical-approach-en-route-to-russia/
Maybe that article writer should watch the more recent games lol because he makes it as if the team was super good With a combination of creativity, confidence, and hunger, Kagawa keeps the team glued together. This one made me laugh Nothing bad to take from his analysis though, don't get me wrong.
What I took away from that article as well as the matches is that Vahid sets the team up with both tactical concept and a defined plan for each game. This is independent of the individual quality of the players.
But... that doesn't really mean anything unless there is a result. Does a bad result mean that the match was prepared in the wrong way, or that the players weren't able to fullfill the plan? Rhetoric question obviously, as both things intrinsically bound. What I got from the article personally was just the coach's kind of football that he seeks
To be able to set your system and tactics based on the players you have and make sure that you bring the best out of each and every one of them is a quality of a great manager. To just put a system in place no matter what you have... can go wrong really really fast
If Vahid uses a defensive formation and a counter attack tactic then I am not really worried. But if he tries something stupid as Zac or Zico then Japan will end up last in the group.
In 2002 and 2010 when Japan played defensively they had much better results than trying to play an open game in 2006 and 2014. I agree they should use counterattacking.
