Considering today's discussion about odds over on the USA Men board after the roster announcement, I thought a thread over here needs to be started. On ESPN's Sportscenter, they mentioned insanely optimistic odds of 8 to 1 for the US. Only suckers would accept such a low payout. Here are the current decimal odds from Bet365.com, my preferred reputable sports book... To win outright: Brazil 4.00 England 7.50 Germany 9.00 Argentina 10.00 France 10.00 Italy 10.00 Holland 13.00 Spain 15.00 Portugal 23.00 Czech Republic 26.00 Mexico 41.00 Sweden 41.00 Ukraine 51.00 Croatia 67.00 Ivory Coast 67.00 Serbia & Montenegro 67.00 USA 101.00 Australia 126.00 Poland 126.00 Switzerland 151.00 Paraguay 201.00 South Korea 251.00 Ghana 251.00 Tunisia 301.00 Japan 301.00 Ecuador 301.00 Togo 501.00 Costa Rica 501.00 Saudi Arabia 751.00 Angola 751.00 Iran 751.00 Trinidad & Tobago 1001.00
If you want to bet on the USA, Las Vegas or an American website would probably give you much worse odds than a British or Euro website or casino.
Exactly. That's what we were discussing on another thread. There's no use in putting a twenty on the US for 8 to 1 odds in Las Vegas when you can get 100 to 1 online.
That's interesting. I wondered about the odds they showed. Also cringed at Wynalda's description of the Czech R. as "the second best team in the world". Ranked so, but cleary not so, as the betting odds demonstrated two minutes later.
