Leeds won the World Club Championship 11-4 in God-awful weather conditions on Friday 2/29. I saw the highlights on the Sky Sports show on FSC. Leeds appeared to be in good form. Melbourne almost scored in the 77th minute but it went to a video review who awarded no try. Its another step forward for UK rugby league. There is a 2nd French team joining Catalan Dragons in the Super League in 2009. One of these days maybe the GB team can actually beat the 'Roos.
Why do we always lose this match? Melbourne are a bloody good team, but Australia barely ever manages to get one over our northern cousins in this fixture despite international dominance.
It was a very good game, I also went to watch the friendly they played against Halifax before hand, and I think their main problem in both games was mastering the conditions. There was a lot of handling errors from Melbourne, and in both games they looked like they were finding it very difficult.
