A. the leaping fist-pump B. the postgame clap C. the crest grab D. the angry face with clenched fists
I think it has to be D, that's what Wondo usually does when he scores, run around with fists clenched, making an angry face...
The autographed fabric mural thing in my office shows him doing just that, but for a statue the fist pump (A) may be a better choice. Think about it, you could attach apropos signage to his upraised hand every game. Or if nothing else, a yellow card. (I have no doubt that Wondo would be frequently flashing one on-field were it somehow permitted.)
As much as I would like the double fist clench goal scoring face, it would not make a great statue. We need something respectful, steely-eyed, proud, resolute... preferably in his kit with his Kiowa captain armband....freaking legend.
Gotta be the angry face (which he often uses after scoring). Love the angry face. It represents his intensity, which is off the charts and his most defining characteristic - the warrior coming over the hill.
Or maybe they plumb water into the statue where Wondo blows out the water every hour like Old Faithful. Or have a button you press and he drenches you with water. Might come in handy on a hot day. Who needs a pool when you have the Wondo Super-Soaker!
Yeah, and we could steal the water from LA too, just to make it all the sweeter! Except that their water was stolen from us in the first place. Nevermind....
Can't choose one, so I'd donate for multiple statues. You forgot "Punching The Shit Out Of Teammate In Joy." Fisticuffs of Joy? Anyway, I love The Point. And it's a great, Wondo-esque message for fans: "You. Not me. You." I love replaying The Point for kids. Wondo will make a goal out of spilt Lobina beer foam and a couple trampled Henok Goitam program posters and he'll still try to share the credit.
Lots of good choices. I really like D, the clenched fists, because that expresses Wondo's legendary intensity. But that makes a lousy statue, I think. So, I'd go with C, clenching the crest (the 'Quakes crest of course, not USMNT crest). As a statue out front of Avaya, it also expresses the Wondo intensity, but, it shows his unequivocal pride in his CLUB. In our CLUB. Imagine walking through the main entrance at Avaya before every game with "Wondo" out front with that look on his face clenching the crest and effectively shouting "This is OUR house!". Wouldn't that be awesome?
This is what I thought "the point" was when I voted. Note to lawyer, read document carefully before signing.
A, B, E and G are all good choices for a Chris Wondolowski statue, preferably in the 2016 San Jose Earthquakes primary uniform. Though to be honest, even before installing any statues, hopefully ESLLC will actually finish Avaya Stadium first by finally adding an exterior stadium skin/wall/shell/whatever else. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
i have a feeling the owner(s) would choose the pointing statue with Wondo pointing to the Highline development, so they can hang a "For Sale or Lease" sign on his finger.
Has to be Wondo's fierce expression because that is his signature victory stance. Anyone can do the fist pump, and please, nothing as bland or generic as the crest grab, clap, or thumbs up.
