I take it as confirmation that Sancho is going.

I disagree. I think he's a smart worker as opposed to a headless chicken. He knows how to press in that RWF very well. He did come from Atalanta youth academy and thats their thing as well. I thought what I was from him at the end of the season, even if you leave out the Liverpool cup game, he showed he enough that pressing isnt gonna be a problem.

The only reason why he may not be an ETH player is because he doesnt have high end pace and it seems like he prefers that. I think he presses. TBH, im looking for stats to back up the claim, but if he wasnt ETH type of player, why did he get as many chances as he did before the injury and why after he was fully fit?

In ok with him starting ahead of Antony. I like him but I was expecting him to be sold to generate revenue for other signings.

I think you have a little selective memory here. He was picked behind Forson for weeks when fit. Ornstein and co we’re saying it was because of his defensive lapses in training and when given minutes in games. But I think his pressing did improve as the season progressed and I agree that smart pressing is way more effective than the headless running around that Garnacho does sometimes.

Also, if top end speed is something ETH prioritizes in wingers, why did he bring in Antony who’s never outrun a defender in his life?

I’m a such Amad fan. I think he’s on of the few chance creators and intelligent players this team has outside of Bruno.

Maybe the setup changes? We were playing more of a 4-2-2-2 as of late.

Defensive lapses does not mean a player isn't pressing properly, or isn't able to press.

    They are wildly different things.

is that true though? Antony's legs move as fast as you like and he can't pull away from any defender.

Diallo beats players on the dribble easily anyway. he doesn't need Overmars speed.

if it is true it's a stupid reason to boycott a player. it wouldn't surprise me if it was true though

If the Amad story was briefed by the club then is probably as a distraction because they have realised they cant / wont afford a RW even if Sancho & Mason are sold :sneaky:

I think Amad returned to training, but he was not fit. Thats why Forson was getting selected. Also they were trying to convince Forson to resign, so had to play him. A bit of both.

I think Antony, there's no way to explain that other than he needed a left footed RWF. There's a story somewhere on the athletic that he could have chosen someone else but the club let him down. Cant remember details. Will try and find.

But yes, he values high end pace and Antony isnt that, but he's a left footed WF to invert and run like an idiot.

Its just the ability to stretch the defense I think. I think ETH saw that the kid can still be valuable in other areas.

We have to sell Antony and Pellistri so it is him and Sancho

Has to be one of the first names on the team sheet.

His performances are making his lack of regular use under EtH look really bad.

He is also a total contrast to Garnacho (who I still rate highly given his age) in terms of his decision making and playing for the team and working with the strikers.

    Very promising :)

It looks like him and Maz, are the best fits for the new system.

I think his growth is partly due to spending a season on loan. But he also came through the Italian club academy before joining.

His pressing alone made 2 goals

And if you add in Garnacho’s goal from Højlund’s pressing last game it really shows what purposeful and aggressive pressing can do

Yes but we were suppose to press under EtH. It is just wild to me these dudes found their will to press now. However, to the subject of the thread, it shows how EtH unwillingness to rotate hurt him. This kid was ready for prime time but was denied playing time.

Romano also reporting the reason that contract talks stalled was due to ETH losing trust with thge player:

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano states “Amad was no longer trusted” by Ten Hag and his technical staff, which was “having an impact on contract talks” between the club and the winger.

“That’s why the new contract was not signed,” the Italian transfer guru concludes.

I've never understood ETH for his treatment of the kid.

Not trusted? But ten Hag trusted Antony to find form again...

We paid around €100million for Antony so he was bound have that trust.

i'll say it again, we got lucky with Diallo even though i am very glad we did.

neither the fans nor the managers outside of Solskjær had any faith in him and are only now realising his potential.

we need to do a better job with the young talents. crazy we devote a lot of efforts renewing 30+ players who add little to no value and neglect the youth
